Anonymous Robocall Bans New Women’s Clothing Store in Lakewood

An anonymous robocall which went out to Lakewood residents today called on the community to refrain from shopping at a certain new women’s clothing store.

The robocall, which did not identify the caller or any Rabbonim, named a specific store, saying the clothing breaches Tznius, and therefore should not be entered.

TLS will not name the shop, as we do not wish to cause a business a loss of Parnassah due to an anonymous message.

As usual, residents are encouraged to always speak to their Rav for guidance.

  1. This is outrageous and a clear violation of loshon horah, not to mention hezek. How does this coward dare to send out a robocall without identifying who is sponsoring the call? Could it be a competitor or a disgruntled person with a personal beef? I would not want to have to answer for such rishus and hezek. What a terrible crime. Shame on them. (NO, I don’t own the store.) Are they saying that NOTHING in the store is tznius? People have eyes and can make their own decisions. Hopefully they have a Rov who will guide them as well. There should be a tremendous outpouring of support for this store – people should shop there to proactively reject this horrid behavior.

    • that is an unbelievable take, you are probably right, and they also sent the message to TLS. remember when a biography was banned and then it got sold out?

  2. Always interesting what “bothers” people. How can one be so sure that the answer to this “problem” is to ban a store.
Can you imagine how perfect one must be in their personal life for them to busy themselves with this undertaking? in actuality, if they were so perfect, they would know how wrong this is.
These “fix-the-world/holier than thou” endeavors never cease to amaze me!

    • Nebach on you. Actually he claims to be reading a statement from the Rabbonim, although he doesn’t say who they are. But ok, there will always be guys like you (ha’asafsuf) that hate anything that smells of yiras shomayim.

  3. What they did is probably additional advertising, because people will be very curious and will go to check. Maybe it actually caused more good than bad.

  4. To be honest, that store doesn’t belong here. I’m no rebbetzin, I consider myself a relatively open minded individual, but this store has just taken things too far. (Moderated) The room of Lakewood has no place for such a business. End of rant.

  5. First of all everyone knows which store you are talking about. Second. If you ask Me if your saying this store does then every single store does as well inclu
including the children’s stores and frum children’s clothing makers. Do u see what the children are walking around it thinks way above the knees just bec they are 4 does it make it ok?!?! Asking for men to look at your children it’s pure disgusting

  6. Free advertising. Those that wouldn’t shop there because of this… wouldn’t shop there to begin with. Others that would just got free ad. You’re welcome.

  7. I am not a frumy however the fact is that in today’s society everything thing is videoed the grand opening video in no way reflects the way our way life nor our daughters those are the facts the owner was strongly advised prior to opening here as well

  8. The issue is that there has been a “fashion show” on opening night, that featured women in inappropriate dress. Additionally, videos have been circulating of men dancing with women in inappropriate ways.

  9. TLS, you don’t post the name of the store but you post the article, I myself don’t know which store but I’m sure many do so by posting the article if they didn’t get the robo call you might be causing them a loss of parnassha.

  10. Fact: Many of the Robocalls that are being made to Lakewood NJ and surrounding areas are being made by someone who does not even live in the United States!!!

  11. I don’t understand what is so wrong. We live in a society where anyone can do what ever aveiros they want and be machshil others but we dare call them out because we always have to mind our own business. Im sure that r Aron is smiling down from gan eden.

  12. Yes, where are the Roshei Hayeshiva? Why have they not come out with anything against this store, if all is true?
This store has ZERO place in Lakewood or in any makom of yidden, bifrat lakewood, and to call it the ihr hatorah???
Bizayon Hatorah is what this store is… Rachmana Litzlan!
And to think that people here are defending such a store!
HOW LOW HAS KLAL YISREOL FELL?!
If you dont feel sick from reading such a thing, you do not live a torahdike life!
    Hashem Yishmor!

    • Agree!! Most commentators may not know what gas gone on at this store at its grand opening. I didn’t either, and thought the robo call was a fanatic etc. But after someone at work showing it to me, I was appalled!! Oy vavoy that such a thing has taken place in the center of Lakewood (or anywhere for that matter ). It is a churban in our midst!! H-shem yeracheim

  13. a little change of topic, i was in a new take-out last night in Lakewood and the owner of a competing restaurant came in ,made a order and gave his competitor chizuk

  14. I’m not a fanatic, but after I saw the video clip of what went on during the grand opening, the store owner definitely has a din of a bas kohen…. ect

  15. I have no clue what store this is, so I may be out of the matzav, but if it is as bad as people make it sound maybe it should be avoided, but im just not sure if it’s that bad why aren’t real rabbonim with real names sending out the robo calls? Why the anonymity? Rabbonim aren’t shy (or shouldn’t be)

  16. I didn’t see any video of the store! Where did you all get to see it?
On Instagram? That was also banned by the rabanim if I recall correctly!!

  17. I have no clue what this store is, but to me the issue isn’t a specific store (anybody can buy whatever they are selling somewhere else as well if they want); it is the people buying non-tznius clothing there. Its not that stores should be selling things that aren’t tznius, but they are catering to people’s wants – not creating them.

    • Please see video, or rather don’t see video. It’ll make you vomit. It’s not about people’s wants. Personally I think they’ll go out if business soon. It’s not a place the majority of lkwd will patronize.

      • Just wondering if you are a male and if so why were u even watching the video? if ur a woman or a man maybe stop being so judgmental and spreading hate to another Jew.

Second the store sells tznius clothing, the way people dress or act is a separate story but that doesn’t give anyone right to spread lashon hara (that is false btw! ) And ruin someone’s business!! If u don’t like that store shop in the 100 other stores in Lakewood and grow up! Not everyone wears skirts to the ankle and that’s ok!!
