Amazon Sellers Compliance Issues #10 – by Ed Rosenberg

amazon-edThis is a continuation of an ongoing series of Amazon Seller Performance Related information.

The goal of these articles is to try our best to avoid compliance issues and best deal with them when we do get into trouble.

  • Some sellers seem to be concerned that if they keep trying to get ungated with invoices for a brand or category, SP will come after you. This appears to be baseless and I don’t see an obvious downside to keep trying to get approved even if they keep denying
  • “Safety complaints”, ‘product safety”, “safety incident”, “safety concern”. These are all extremely similar and likely have no practical difference. The way to deal with this is to try find the actual order / review that caused the complaint, make amends (refund & apologize), and then explain how you will prevent future re-occurrences. Check date of complaint and match that to any activity on that day. On some occasions, they have been giving you the text of the complaint at the end of the notification. That’s valuable. Take that text and google it with the asin you think they after (you may have to try a few ASINS) and that may give it to you if it’s a product review. (Seller feedback, messages of course won’t show so you must poke around but once you have the complaint text you should find it quickly)
  • When they ask for invoices after you already sent invoices, pay close attention to the specific info they are asking. If each time you submit the invoice, they keep asking you for ALL the info (-Invoice, supplier name, qty, etc. ), that normally means there is something wrong with the whole invoice (macro level). For example, the supplier is unverifiable, or the info does not match seller central, or it says commercial invoice instead of just INVOICE.
  • Emails on Rights Owner emails say contact [email protected] to dispute the RO complaint and have the RO email [email protected] to have the complaint rescinded. This is the same email. I’m quite sure they mean [email protected] to rescind so tell the RO when they withdraw to use both email addresses.
  • If you see an item on the new health dashboard that you have not sold in a long time and is deleted from your inventory – but you never appealed, email SP with your story and ask them to annotate your account. They usually do.
  • “Please be assured that your distributors or suppliers contact information will remain confidential” – has been showing up on inauthentic requests for invoices. This likely is a reaction the those concerned that Amazon is stealing sources. That is the least of your worries.
  • Invoices that say “Commercial Invoices” are not accepted for inauthentic complaints.
  • Amazon generally does not to distinguish between listing violations when you create your own listing or if you list against an existing ASIN. If a Rights Owner claims infringement against you or any other violation, they still consider it as policy violation against you.
