UPDATED: Oak Street, which until now was a dead-end road at Albert Avenue, is expected to be open to motorists today. The new opening will allow motorists to drive from River Avenue until New Hampshire Avenue – crossing over Albert Avenue. There are two stop signs along the way though, one at Albert Avenue Street, and the other at Vine Street.
The road construction has been in the works for over two years, which included the engineering, planning and financing of the project.
The Township is still expected to insert traffic-slowing devices into the road to prevent motorists from speeding on the open road.

UPDATE: The finishing touches are being performed and the road is expected to open any day.

Just got home about ten minutes ago and the road is blocked off on Oak at the Marlin intersection. You will still have to go to Pime St for now.
2 stop signs?? I think I know where Dash Cam guy will be 🙂
do you think repeating the word STOP…will help, dont think so.
Now let’s open vine from cedarbridge to oak st
What took two years to plan this ?
Why was closed closed the past 3 months
I just tried going threw and it’s still closed I had to go all the way back around
follow the signs i live there i don’t want any one killed. or teaffic. stay away.
You can’t do the same for Spruce there is a cemetary there.
So happy… less gas spent on getting to Lake Terrace now 😉
Who does one talk to to get 4 way stop signs on those roads it will speed up traffic otherwise expect to wait by the intersections forever.
Who does one talk to for a 4 way stop sign?
Same people you talk to get a traffic light, good luck!!!
now all they need there is great big stop signs with solar powered LED`s around the edges of the signs. that is an attention grabber and will make the signs stand out. 2 on the west side of oak & 2 on the east side of oak street.
To #17 Are you sure that will work? why waste that money and just install a traffic light. No matter how big or bright the stop signs there will still be accidents. Don’t you know Lakewood has the worlds largest stop signs in the world, and people here still can’t see them.
Please confirm that it is open, I went last night and it was closed
i went there this morning and it was CLOSED!! I’m lucky i had enough time to turn around and still make the bus….
to # 18 we people in lkwd are good drivers. its people like you we have to look out for.
