After Two Years In The Works, Oak Street At Albert Avenue To Be Open Today For First Time

oak street albert avenueUPDATED: Oak Street, which until now was a dead-end road at Albert Avenue, is expected to be open to motorists today. The new opening will allow motorists to drive from River Avenue until New Hampshire Avenue – crossing over Albert Avenue. There are two stop signs along the way though, one at Albert Avenue Street, and the other at Vine Street.

The road construction has been in the works for over two years, which oak_albert_mapincluded the engineering, planning and financing of the project.

The Township is still expected to insert traffic-slowing devices into the road to prevent motorists from speeding on the open road.

UPDATE: The finishing touches are being performed and the road is expected to open any day.

Interpetation: Doing work for 2 months and the rest takin a coffee break.

  2. Just got home about ten minutes ago and the road is blocked off on Oak at the Marlin intersection. You will still have to go to Pime St for now.

  3. now all they need there is great big stop signs with solar powered LED`s around the edges of the signs. that is an attention grabber and will make the signs stand out. 2 on the west side of oak & 2 on the east side of oak street.

  4. To #17 Are you sure that will work? why waste that money and just install a traffic light. No matter how big or bright the stop signs there will still be accidents. Don’t you know Lakewood has the worlds largest stop signs in the world, and people here still can’t see them.
