  1. Correct me if I am wrong – It would seem the reason why Chazal established such rulings such as not eating meat or meat dishes during the nine days is the same reason why Chazal forbade listening to music and certain other activities like shaving, haircuts etc. that we derive pleasure and good feeling, in that we should show a little discomfort as we approach the day of Tisha B’av. If so my humble opinion suggests that if we circumvent the ruling of Chazal by substituting our lack of eating meat and all that meat can offer by buying all the nicest dairy and pareve dishes that this planet can offer than I think we sadly missed the whole point (once again)

  2. Cool masmid… Always a breath of stale air…
That is why I buy spoiled milk, fungus laden cottage cheese and moldy cream cheese. Because chazal wanted it that way.
Listen carefully: granted, we are a generation that has become a bit megusham. Just let this be. There are plenty of ‘atrocities’ you can point to instead of this. By the way, “Cool Masmid”, care to provide us with YOUR nine days menu? Or perhaps you have a siyum every night whence you can enjoy a Dee-licious steak.

  3. To cool masmid,

I’m just wondering if you have any clue what it cost to run a business 9 days or not. The landlord charges the same rent and some workers get paid slalaries weather there r nine days or not.

Don’t you think these store owners would love to close up shop and take a much needed break. They are trying to pay their bills something you may not be aware of if your father or father in law sends a check every month.

Always be dan lkaf zchus instead of darshening ur chumras.

  4. At the end of the day it’s not a steak, it’s fish. A nice parve dish doesn’t take away from the nine days, making comments like yours however does.
