About 10K In Jewelry Stolen In Home Burglary

About $10,000 worth of Jewelry was stolen from a burglarized home, TLS has learned. The home, in the Raintree area, was reportedly burglarized by forcing open a door to the garage, which led to the home. The burglar then allegedly proceeded to ransack the home, and made off with the jewelry from the master bedroom.

A river Avenue office building was reportedly also burglarized over night on Monday.

CIU is investigating both incidents. TLS-MJ/TLS-MK.

  1. Sad, hope that they catch who ever did this. No alarm ? with the amount of braek ins going on in this town Its almost a must to have an alarm system , not thats not going to stop every robbery but its a good first step, at least the police can respond as soon as the crime is in progress .Sadly you are going to see more of this reported , the police can only respond after the crime has taken place . Get an Alarm system ,Lock EVERY door, yes I lock doors between my garage and the inside of my home too , if you are going away ask a neighbor to keep an eye open . Leave lights on outside , don’t let mail and newspapers pile up (have a neighbor talke your mail in ) the last thing you want is to make it obvious that you are away and your home is vacant if you have $$$ in jewlery buy a safe

  2. If you have homeowners or renters insurance, it usually only covers a few hundred dollars in jewelry or cash. You must add a special rider for your jewelry, have it appraised, photos taken, etc.

  3. Um, 10k in jewelry isn’t that much these days…anything with a stitch of gold in it is worth a ton. BTW, my renters insurance covers jewelry without an additional rider, so check u r policy!

  4. How come people leave their expensive jewelry just laying around in unsecured jewelry boxes, It seems there have been a bunch of incidents where the jewelry is taken and the amounts are astonishing..who wears that much jewelry and where would you wear it to.

  5. I truely doubt that a basic Home owners policy is going to cover $10,000 in jewlery , I know also that apprasils for items such as diamonds are not acceptable as a statement of value , paid reciepts are the only accepted documentation for what you have invested . I personally ran into this problem a long time ago !

  6. “You can do better with private no contract companies.”
that does not make any sense ADT is a “private” company and as far as no contract ,what alarm company is not going to ask for a contract ~ thats what you are paying for them to monitor your home through an alrm system so if a break in ocurs it can be reported to the police

  7. What do you mean who wears that much jewelry? Do the math!
Average size diamond ring and setting=$2500
    Plain gold wedding band=$200
    Kallah Pearls=$500
    kallah bracelet=$700
    Kallah earrings=$500
    Kallah watch=$1,000
    Cufflinks=$300
    Accent ring=$500
I’m up to $6200 and we haven’t begun talking about weekday jewelry.

  8. #16 may i join? and how?

a message to victims… most burglaries happen to those who dont take protective measures thinking “it just wont happen to them”.

  9. Look, I was trying to give a very conservative estimate to the comment #7 who seems to think that 10K is a lot of jewelry. I know prices to replace things bought even only a few years ago is much higher.
