Remember, if you win, you will live to regret it for the rest of your life.
Harry, If you win and I hope you do. Just give the ticket to charity. This will save you from regret. By the way how many tickets did you buy???
None.
@Harry – Why the negative outlook? And don’t bring up statistics, bec if u want to go with percentages we as Jews wouldn’t even exist. So keep the negativity away and u live a happier life.
If it was Hishtadlus then way more people would/should play when the lotto is only at 5 million being that Would significantly alter their life/parnassa. I think the fact that people only start playing once it’s in 150 million and above shows that it’s all about the craze
Keep in mind that mathematically speaking, your odds of winning are about the same whether or not you buy a ticket.
MYG The odds are clearly shown on the lottery website. They are very slim but you do have shot at the $50,000. Prize.Good luck to you.
Myg- if you buy a ticket the odds of winning is about one in 300 million and if you don’t buy a ticket the odds of winning is zero
@Itchy – exactly. One chance in three hundred million and zero chances are approximately equivalent. Think about it.
The original question raised was, is this a craze, or Hishtadlus?
Although I never, personally, heard him say this, but Rav Yaakov Kamentetzky zt”l was reportedly asked if it is a Chasaron in Emunah (Lack of Faith) to buy a lottery ticket?
His answer: “OIB MIR KOIFT AIN, ES IS FINE” (If you buy one, it is fine) , OIB MIR KOIFT TZVAI, ES IS AH CHASORON IN BITACHON” (If you buy two, it is a lack of faith/trust).
according to Elizabeth Warren -1%is still a factor
There was never a happy ending for a lottery winner. Why does anyone think they will be different?
It would be different by me
Why is buying a ticket any worse than going to work?
The only one that gurentees our hatzlocho is The Ribono Shel Olam.
