4 Candidates Vie for Spot on BOE

Board of Education Elections will soon be heating up as four candidates vie for three spots on the 9-member board. Chesky Seitler, who served as the board’s VP, has already announced he wouldn’t be seeking re-election – citing personal and business obligations.

Incumbents Carl Fink and Isaac Zlakin have filed for reelection, while Chaim Rosenblatt and Alex Janklowicz have filed to run for the first time.

Board elections this year will be held together with the General Elections. [TLS]

  1. The district already can provide education to all the children in town for free. We do not need to wait for voucher legislation to end our high tuition.

The district already can work the state funding formula to end our high property taxes.

The district already has a educational lawyer on its staff that can do its legal work for free. We can limit our outside counsel.

Who gets elected is totally irrelevant as long as the most capable members of the organization are not given the authority to serve it.

What does that mean , very vague statements that have no foundation to them .If your going to post something can we stay with FACTS Please !!

  3. To #2 so are you trying to say that there is a possibility that I could send my kids to a school with my religion beliefs? That would be nice, my kids could finally go to a catholic school with public school funds! I’m going to get more informed about this. Thanks

  4. All of Lakewood’s children can get free education under N.J.A.C. 6A:8-5.1(a) 2. This will bring to the district full state funding for each child exceeding the cost of his or her education.

  5. Yes, you should be allowed to get funding for attending Catholic school, and it’s “religious beliefs” not “religion beliefs”, so make sure that your Catholic school also teaches English – not just Spanish.

  6. To #10 “teach Spanish” what are you trying to say? That’s just plain racist. FYI I don’t speak a word in Spanish. And if I do what’s the problem? The school is for my kids not for me anyways.

  7. To #10- Seriously you are going to assume that someone doesn’t speak English due to a grammar or spelling mistake.TLS is full of mistakes on a daily basis and certainly not all people posting are Spanish! Sounds like there is some bias at work here.
