200 Riders Depart Asbury Park For 4th Annual Bike For Chai – Over $1.6 Million Raised

PHOTOS & VIDEO [UPDATED 10:15 AM] At 7:30 AM sharp, a ribbon was cut for 200 bikers making their way up to Camp Simcha, raising over $1.6 million.

The bikers will ride for two days with a sleep-over on the way, ending the tour in Camp Simcha in Glen Spey, New York.

Dovid Egert, the lone rider in 2009, was among the 200 riders this year.

“It all started four years ago, I was little nuts in my head!”, says Dovid. “I decided to bike up to Camp Simcha, because the camp said there are no bikes on the bus. I said no problem, so I biked up to camp without the bus!” That year, Dovid raised $10,000 for the camp for ill children.

Like they say, the rest is history.

The bike ride then went viral, and by the next year there 40 bikers, and last year 150 bikers.

The bikers wer sent off with a medical staff as well as with Hatzolah and Chaveirim volunteers. TLS.

you guys need to stop blocking the flow of traffic. you guys took the whole lane on Industrial Way in eatontown, causing cars to swerve into oncoming traffic! this is not a safe thing to do.

Mr. Conservative. Last I checked cars are not supposed to pass a bicycle that’s on the road.
Thanks for showing your true face, you only write what/when YOU think is right/wrong with complete disregard to the law but totally biased.

” Last I checked cars are not supposed to pass a bicycle that’s on the road.” (- PLEASE SO ME THE STATUTE FOR THAT?)

39:4-11 Audible Signal.
A bicycle must be equipped with a bell or other audible device that can be heard at least 100 feet away, but not a siren or whistle.
(DID ANY OF THEM HAVE THOSE? NOT A SINGLE ONE!)

39:4-14.2, 39:4-10.11 Operating Regulations.
Every person riding a bicycle on a roadway shall ride as near to the right roadside as practicable exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction.
(I HAVE PHOTO’S OF THESE RIDERS RIDING IN THE MIDDLE WITH NO REGARD FOR THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. FURTHER MORE I HAVE PHOTO’S OF A UHAUL TRUCK FOLLOWING THEM AND SLOWING DOWN TRAFFIC!)

I agree
