Zika Virus prompts alert for pregnant women intending to travel to parts of Florida

zika graphThe Florida Department of Health has identified an area in one neighborhood of Miami where Zika is being spread by mosquitoes.

This guidance is for people who live in or traveled to this area any time after June 15 (based on the earliest time symptoms can start and the maximum 2-week incubation period for Zika virus).

Pregnant women should not travel to this area in the graph, according to the CDC.

  1. it is mainly pregnant women, though, since the Zika virus has been known to permanently cause damage to unborn babies… no one else is at MAJOR risk…
