[COMMUNICATED] Now that the worst of Hurricane Harvey has passed, the full extent of its devastation becomes more clear each day. ZAKA Search & Rescue volunteer are now arriving on the scene, to aid those who have lost their homes and loved ones.

ZAKA has been present at the scene of most natural disasters since its founding, including Hurricane Katrina and the Haitian earthquake of 2010. Though they specialize in resources for the Jewish community, they save all kinds of lives. ZAKA prides itself on volunteers who run toward danger, in order to make the world a safer place, and honor those who have passed.

The Houston neighborhoods where its Jewish communities are concentrated, including Willow Meadows, Meyerland and Central City, were among those most deeply impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

ZAKA volunteers have now begun to arrive in Texas, in hopes of helping to rebuild. They will distribute care packages and kosher food to those in need, and will use whatever means possible to help wherever they can.

Due to the expenses involved, ZAKA is in urgent need of donations to make their work in Houston more effective. Each donation could mean a hot kosher meal or warm clothing for a family in need.
