  1. Dear Rebbetzin Ruth,

Believe it or not, there are very respectable halachic authorities who are of the opinion that one may and SHOULD tell others about a rainbow. Either because this will inspire to do teshuva or to the contrary, to express gratitude to the Almighty for having spared us Mabul 2.0.

I, too, had many questions but did alot of research on it. Hebrewbooks.com features a sefer with phenomenal sources on this topic.

    Somewhere over the rainbow…

      • I saw this in an article on rainbows. “Sefer Bris Kehuna Orach Chaim 1:100:3 notes it was customary in Jerba to publicize the appearance of a rainbow in order that others should recite a blessing on it. As for the negative omen of a rainbow, he writes that the rainbow also has a postive message namely that Hashem, in His mercy, will never again bring destruction to the world.”

  2. Rav Avigdor Miller tz’l clearly says that the purpose of a beautiful rainbow is so that we should look at it and be reminded that Hashem made a world built on His Chesed. I don’t see how the minhag of not telling people about the actual presence of a rainbow has anything to do with looking at pictures to remind us of an amazing example of this and the nifloes Haborei.

  3. That’s correct the corruption and dishonesty of today’s generation-worldwide and all kinds of people-call for the destruction of this temporary physical world here on earth (the real world is the next world above-the olam haemes as the seforim say this temporary physical world is simply a path to the true world above)

We are so corrupt today R”L that our human pscycological minds convince us of every corruption as pure honest and that’s tragically sad that we have stooped so low. With that being the case I sadly have to agree with Hashem that it’s time for the destruction of this temporary physical world and to restart it again fresh with honest people.

How many hundreds of years is Hashem waiting for our teshuva and return to honesty? There’s just a limit how long Hashem can wait. How long can you wait for someone to apologize to you for being so dishonest with you for such a long time.

Tears flow as I write this and beg us to do teshuva already TODAY NOT TOMORROW don’t wait for tragedy to strike C”V

  4. Dovid, speak for yourself.
What a terrible life you must have, or a battered spouse you are, or horrible kids you must have to speak that way.
My G-d is a kind G-d, an all merciful G-d. One that cherishes every little good deed his people are doing. My fellow yidden are Gomlei Chesed par excellance, generously support Torah learning if they can’t do it all day themselves and kindly offer similar to their non-religious neighbors.
Dovid, time for YOU to do teshuva.

  5. To Chaim Gonzalez, there is no need to respond to Dovid. Hes just joking. You think his “tears are flowing as he writes this” ? Hes playing you. If hes not playing you, hes got even worse problems than I thought. And if that’s the case, nothing you’re gonna post here will cure him.
