The Young Eagles Program which was to offer free rides to boys and girls ages 8-17, was scratched for this year, but a new event is planned for either Spring or Summer.
“The response to this article was overwhelming,” a coordinator wrote to TLS. “Within 48 hours of the article being published, appointments had been made to fly 50+ young people on October 19. Every effort was made to return each phone call, but some people who left messages spoke too quickly and phone numbers could not be understood. Unfortunately, all of Sunday’s flights had to be cancelled due to high winds. EAA Chapter 315 is planning to schedule another event in the spring or early summer.”
The event will be published once it’s announced.

EAA, I’ve attended many of these events for years all over the country. Although they take a lot of precautions there have been several fatal accidents over the years, even with very experienced pilots.
It might appear routine but nothing is just routine.
