Yeshivat Tiferet Yonatan Yehoshua – A Yom Tov Season of Joy and Growth

At Yeshivat Tiferet Yonatan Yehoshua, the month of Tishrei was filled with inspiration, meaning, and simcha. After an uplifting Elul, which included heartfelt Selichos, Hataras Nedarim, and powerful Vaadim from the yeshiva’s Rabbis and Mashgichim, the spirit of growth carried right into the Yom Tov season — truly living up to the name “Zman Simchaseinu.”

Tefillah, Preparation, and Connection

Yom Kippur at the yeshiva was especially moving. The tefillos took place in the Katamon yeshiva hall and were joined by many local residents and friends who came to daven together. The Rosh Yeshiva, shlit”a, led the tefillos with his signature warmth and emotion, creating an atmosphere that truly opened hearts and, as many said, the Shaarei Shamayim.

Even before Sukkos, the energy of the yeshiva could be felt. Thirty days ahead of the chag, the talmidim began preparing for the annual sukkah-building project. On campus, a special sukkah was built for those staying in yeshiva over Yom Tov, while at the Rosh Yeshiva’s home, a stunning sukkah took shape — complete with elegant chandeliers and artistic decorations. Many said it was among the most beautiful sukkahs in all of Yerushalayim.

Simcha, Torah, and Community

After the first day of Sukkos, the Rosh Yeshiva joined a Simchas HaChag hosted by Rabbi David Gefner, shiyichyeh, one of the yeshiva’s devoted supporters. There, he shared updates about the yeshiva’s growth and vision for the future — continuing to strengthen Torah learning and spiritual development for all the talmidim.

Throughout Tishrei, each major yeshiva celebration was dedicated to one of the yeshivas Ma’amudei HaYeshiva:

  • The Simchas Beis HaSho’eva was held in the merit of Rabbi Yoel Landa, shlit”a.

  • The Hallel and musical praises were in honor of Rabbi David Gefner, shiyichyeh.

  • The Simchas Torah festivities were dedicated to Rabbi Ayzik Solimani, shlit”a.

The Simchas Beis HaSho’eva was a highlight of the season — a night of joy, song, and inspiration. The beautifully set tables, lively music, and heartfelt Divrei Torah created a truly uplifting atmosphere. The Nasi, Maran HaGaon Rabbi Pinchas Zavichi, shlit”a, and the Rosh Mesivta, HaGaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim Almakaiss, shlit”a, both shared words on the theme of “Tov Lehodos LaHashem.”

The evening ended with spirited dancing that went on late into the night — the kind of simcha that can only come from Torah, achdus, and serving Hashem together with joy.

Music, Prayer, and Torah Learning

Hallel was sung joyfully in the morning with the participation of Chazzan Rabbi Zvi Neuwlander and singer Yoni Silver, followed by a festive breakfast.

A highlight of the Yom Tov season was the launch of the new Kunteres Shiurei Rabbi Yisrael Meir, authored by the Rosh Yeshiva, shlit”a. This new volume joins the acclaimed Shiurei Rabbi Yisrael Meir series, which has earned an honored place in the yeshiva world.

On Hoshanah Rabbah eve, the Rosh Yeshiva, following his annual custom, visited the Mashgiach, HaGaon Rabbi Binyamin Finkel, shlit”a, to receive the Aravos used by the mashgiach during the sacred Hoshanah Rabbah tefillos. Many consider these aravos to carry special bracha. Rabbi Finkel warmly blessed the Rosh Yeshiva and all of the yeshiva’s donors and friends.

The Joy of Simchas Torah

Talmidim shared that the peak of the entire Yom Tov season was Simchas Torah, when the yeshiva hall was beautifully adorned and filled with song, dance, and joy. The sixth hakafah — known as a time of great spiritual favor and bracha— was dedicated to the yeshiva’s three ma’amudim.

The Tishrei Yomim Tovim concluded with Hakafos Sheniyos and a Neilas HaChag, leaving the students uplifted and energized as they prepare for the upcoming winter zman.

Looking Ahead

Special thanks were extended to Rabbi Baruch Avraham, shiyichyeh, a leading supporter from Panama, who generously covered the Yom Tov expenses. In appreciation, the Rosh Yeshiva presented him with a set of beautifully prepared aravos, blessed by the yeshiva’s Rabbanim for Hoshanah Rabbah.

The yeshiva administration is now preparing for the winter zman and the admission of new talmidim. Meanwhile, the Building Fund Committee is moving into high gear in preparation for the construction of the new Landa Hall at the Meah Shearim branch. With faith and hope, the yeshiva looks forward to celebrating next year’s Yamim Noraim in the newly completed yeshiva building — in a rebuilt Yerushalayim.
