The smell of smoke in Lakewood is due to the wildfire in Bass River, which is burning thousands of acres.
The GSP is closed in both directions between exits 38 and 63 until further notice because of reduced visibility caused by heavy smoke from the fire.
“I think now would be a good time as any to sit outside on the porch and to smoke some weed, don’t you think?” the underage, Lakewood cannabis-smoker said to his fellow underage cannabis-smoker upon reading about the smoke-filled smell emananting from the Bass River wildfire..
“Yep, now would be the perfect time for a weed,” the friend replied, as he lit up his cannabis-filled cylinder and laughed out loud. “Heh, heh!”
“Excuse me, gentlemen, sorry to interrupt your conversation,” the next door neighbor said to the two secret cannabis enthusiasts, as he stepped outside his door “Is it just me, or do you fellows also notice a funny weed-like odor in the air?”
“We certainly do,” one of the youngsters replied, as he hid his weed-filled cylinder behind his back. “Didn’t you hear about the wildfire in Bass River?”
“No, I didn’t,” the neighbor said, “but thanks for telling me about it. I couldn’t figure out what that smell was! Thanks again.”
“You have yourself a good one,” the youngster replied, as he furtively turned his face and sprayed some mint breath freshener in his mouth.
“You too,” the neighbor replied, adding, “You know something? This might seem crazy to you, but that wildfire smoke has a pleasant mint odor to it! I kinda like the smell!”
“Me too,” the youngster said, “as he hid his face again and sprayed another shot of breath freshener in his mouth. “I love the smell of mint, especially the smoked-mint variety.”
