Winter Storm Watch issued for the area; 4-7 inches of snow possible

Spring begins tomorrow, but it sure won’t look or feel like it just one day in.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, in effect from Tuesday evening into Wednesday evening.

Four-seven inches of snow is possible, with snowfall rates mid-Wednesday of one-three inches per hour.

  1. Supposedly, this is going to be heavy wet snow that falls–not the powdery stuff that is easy to shovel. When shoveling snow, you should have at least 2 different kinds of snow shovels to deal with it depending upon the type of snow. I use a lightweight aluminum snow shovel to deal with the powdery snow. I use a TruTemper SnoBoss shovel to move the heavier snow. Most people shovel snow one scoop at a time and toss it elsewhere. That is too strenuous, and can cause you to have a heart attack. My method has always been to use my snow shovels to push the snow away. With the lighter snow, I use my aluminum snow shovel to push the snow as far as it can handle, and then I lob the snow out of the way. For heavier snow, I use my SnoBoss shovel to push the snow, and once it reaches capacity, I can just drag the shovel backwards and then deposit the snow in another area. Pushing snow is so much easier than scooping it one shovel at a time.
