What to Watch If You Like Black Mirror

The famous satirical series from Charlie Brooker started on British Channel 4 as early as 2011. After two seasons, Black Mirror moved to Netflix, but the format hasn’t changed much.

Each episode is a separate story that tells about the impact of technology on people. Almost always, there is a fantastic component and, at the same time, social and even political satire. If you want to spend your free time in a fun way, you can Play at Zodiac casino or watch one of these series.

Made for Love

Christine Milioti, who starred in 2017’s Black Mirror, played a major role in this project from HBO Max. Her character — Hazel — is on the run from a toxic husband who wanted to control her life. But soon, she realizes that he implanted a chip in her head and can literally see through the eyes of a girl.

We can say that Made for Love is a complete analogue of some episodes of Black Mirror. Here is a satire on the topic of relationships and people’s dependence on modern technologies, and a fantastic component.

Severance

Mark manages the macro data department at Lumon Industries. To get a job, he had to go through a “separation” procedure. Now he does not remember anything about his personal life while being in the office. And at home, he has no idea what happens during working hours.

In fact, he turned into two different personalities. But one day, both of Mark’s lives change: a new girl who asks uncomfortable questions gets a job at the office, and his former colleague comes home to Mark.

The series from Apple TV+ and Ben Stiller captures several important themes at once. Here, there are philosophical questions about freedom of choice, criticism of corporations that turn their employees into slaves, and personal drama.

Braindead

Not all Black Mirror episodes are dedicated to technology. The series also captures political issues, like in The Waldo Moment episode, in which a cartoon bear was elected as a president. For those looking for something equally edgy and funny at the same time, check out Brainless from The Good Wife writers — Robert and Michelle King.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays documentary filmmaker Laurel, who goes to work for her brother’s, a Democratic senator, team. Soon, she finds out a terrible truth: alien insects climbed into the heads of some politicians and ate half of their brains. Because of this, carriers turn into ardent patriots and fanatics of their party.

Devs

The programmer Sergei is invited to the experimental department of the Amaya company, after which the young man disappears. His girlfriend Lily Chan, who also works for the firm, suspects that one of the executives is involved. She decides to deal with a strange situation.

The director speaks about human interaction with new technologies in his debut. In Devs, he talks about the operation of a quantum computer. As usual, the director throws in a lot of scientific terms and complex concepts.
