[COMMUNICATED] Talmud Torah Chochmas Shlomo in Yerushalayim is well-known for the quality chinuch it provides for its over 1,500 students. All classes are in Yiddish, and there is a great stress on imbuing the children with a great love for Torah together with yiras Shamayim. Despite the huge student body, each child is given individual attention, to ensure that he has all he needs, both in ruchniyus and gashmiyus. All decisions of the cheder, whether large or small, are made with the guidance of Gedolei Yisrael.
The one thing that the cheder is sorely lacking is a proper building. At the moment, 80% of the Chochmas Shlomo’s students are learning in caravans. Not only are these portables small and overcrowded, but they take up space in the schoolyard, so the children have very limited space to play.
This Rosh Chodesh Adar, Feb. 25 – 26, the cheder’s principal, Rav Avraham Shalom Pinzel, will be embarking on a large-scale fundraising campaign for the building fund, called Bayis LiShmi. “We need your help to build this Bayis,” says Rav Pinzel. “We need the help of people who care about the future of this unique cheder, which has already taught generations of tinokos shel beis Rabban!”
Rav Pinzel has the full support of Gedolei Yisrael, who bless all who take part in this important endeavor. A ben bayis in the home of Maran, Sar HaTorah Rav Chaim Kanievsky, shlita, Rabbi Pinzel brought the plans for the new building to R’ Chaim, who exclaimed that donors to the building will merit to see the building of the Beis Hamikdash.
Hagaon Harav Baruch Dov Povarsky echoed this sentiment, saying: “Whoever donates generously to Chochmas Shlomo will merit to contribute to the actual Beis Hamikdash!”
When discussing specifically donors to Bayis LiShmi, Hagaon Harav Gershon Edelstein shlita said: “One who assists Torah is considered as though he is actively learning Torah. He will earn great zechus, both in This World and the Next.”
Hagaon Harav Shimon Galai shlita stressed that “just as a shul should be pleasant, so should a school be pleasant and accommodating. May Hashem bless [every donor to Bayis LiShmi] with all the best – good health, abundance, successful marriages, true yiras Shamayim and much accomplishment!”
Other Rabbanim shlita who have expressed their unbridled support for Rav Pinzel and the cheder include: Harav Mordechai Breem, Harav David Cohen, Harav Binyamin Elyashiv, Harav Baruch Mordechi Ezrachi, Harav Mordechai Gross, Harav Yaakov Hillel, Harav Yitzchak Scheiner, and Harav Michel Zilber. In addition, all agreed to daven for those who donate generously to the Bayis LiShmi building fund.
Take part in the building campaign and claim your share in this very special cheder.
