100 Vehicles Burglarized In Lakewood And Jackson Over Weekend

bill addison lpd 2There has been between 100-150 car burglaries this past weekend in Lakewood and Jackson, Detective Lieutenant William Addison tells TLS, which he says included a report from Jackson Police. And those numbers are not a typo. TLS received reports of several burglaries over the weekend, but the number of 100-150 was a shocker. What’s amazing is, says Lt. Addison, is that most of these vehicles were unlocked. “People have got to lock their car doors” Addison says.

Addison says that most of the incidents occurred in the South West part of town, including incidents in West gate, Hope Chapel and South Lake areas.

In most incidents – as per the reports gathered thus far by the Lakewood Police – items stolen included the usual, GPS devices and Radar detectors.

  1. Easy on the hyperbole. While having something stolen from one’s vehicle is surely annoying, upsetting and disturbing does it really rate as terror?

  2. The only terror is to all those officers who were tied up taking useless theft from unlocked unsecured vehicles, of items that will never be recovered nor put thru an insurance claim. So wasting taxpayers dollars for people who should know better in the first place. Why do car companies put locks on vehicles…..to keep you in, or to keep you out. These officers could have been out patrolling our streets.
    LOCK YOUR DOORS………..

  3. Lock your doors, but dont rely on just the locks.

So not to entice the criminals, dont leave anything thats worth more than $5 at a flea-market. Open doors can be opened & window’s can be broken. So hide your ipods, laptops, keys, CD binders, cellphones, camera’s etc. Your glovebox can be locked with the car key- USE IT!

** Remember, if you own it, someone wants to steal it. **

  4. yeS LAKEWOODS GANGS AND CRIMINALS MUST GET THE MESSAGE THAT THEY WILL DO TIME. EVEN A TEENAGER.

GRAFFITI, CARS, BREAK INS, BIKE WITH LOCKS ARE BEING STOLIN.

PLEASE LIGHT UP YOU HOUSES IN BACK AND FRONT TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR POLICE TO SEARCH AND FIND CRIMINALS AND TO MAKE THE CRIMINALS AND GANGS THINK TWICE ABOUT BREAKING INTO YOUR CAR OR HOUSE.

  5. Don’t lock your doors!!!!! Leave it open so ur windows dont get smashed….Last year I had my honda odyssey broken into and the doors were locked… my window was smashed in a million pieces and it cost couple hundred dollars to replace…….

  6. If its not a “forced ” entry into the vehicle (doors left ublocked) most insurance companies will not cover the items stolen!!! so the advice to not lock the doors is bogus and why make it also easy to steal the vehicle itself
