Was Your Street Cleaned Yet? List It

snow lkwd 2-15-15As of about 3 PM, TLS has received numerous complaints from readers wondering why their streets are still covered in snow, with no plow or salt truck in sight.

For the most part, the County and State roads in Lakewood were cleaned.

If your street was still not cleaned, please list it in the comments section below.

  1. Valley Drive Myrtle Ave., Woodland Drive and S. Lake Dr. are very dangerous and have not been touched by plow or salt and sand trucks. Public Safety is at great risk and this must be remedied immediately. Please public works, help us. Thanks!

  2. Oak, Linden, Avenue of Americas, pine, vine, twin Oaks, and almost every town road.
I saw 1 plow out and it was only salting Not plowing, when they should be.
The township is not doing their job.
    We obviously need more trucks.
If the state and county can do it, why can’t the city.
Yes we have 24+sq miles in Lakewood, but that just means all the reason to have more equipment, everyone pays Taxes.

  3. We live in hearthstone development – quite messy!! Sand truck came through on hearthstone drive and finchley only, no other streets about 20 mins ago. Also only about 5% of ALL homes shoveled sidewalks. Kids getting off school buses at risk of slipping and getting hurt!

  4. Countyline rd is ok. Thank you Lakewood township employees. Don’t worry about all the complainers, they represent only 1/10th of the 1% of Lakewood who actually read these articles.

  5. Every street that is not a county or state street has NOT been plowed. Utterly ridiculous. Pair that with freezing temperatures and you have a recipe for disaster.

  6. Can we please list the streets that WERE plowed??! I drove through half of Lakewood today and only state and county roads were plowed. Did not see a single township street plowed

  7. Problem is that now the snow is easy to plow, but if they wait until it freezes it will be a lot harder and even more dangerous! We pay enough taxes that we should have streets named after us, certainly not too much to ask that they plow and salt in a timely manner! That said, all of the roads off of south lake Drive (including carasaljo, forest drive etc) are untouched. Thank you again TLS!

  8. This is ridiculous. Every single road I’ve been on in Lakewood is a horrific mess. Every other town managed to clean up except for Lakewood. A disgrace!

  9. Think of all the tax money saved…maybe this year taxes will go down? I saw trucks but plows were not on the ground. Does that count?( not spreading either)

  10. how are the roads going to look tomorrow when everyone has to take the kids to school The streets are going to be jammed if everyone can drive carefully tomorrow because the streets are going to be a sheet of ice sincerely someone who loves the DPW

  11. I usually disagree with the comments, but I must say that the plows definitely should have been dropped. Salting did nothing. Side Streets are absolutely an accident waiting to happen. Someone had to make that decision!!! 3 inches of snow before a plow is dropped is sometimes not always the rule of thumb to use. Common sense is.

  12. Who decides where and when to plow? How can we have input into this decision? What do they base their decisions on? Why was nothing plowed this morning at 10.00? Why do we ask these questions every year and the only answer we get is how many tons of salt were bought? Where is the salt, where are the trucks and why do we vote again ans again for the same people without demanding change?
We don’t need achdus, we need snow ploughs!

  13. Prospect street which houses a hospital was finally plowed at around 4:30pm. I’m not sure what the problem was getting this accomplished but we were clearly completely unprepared for this storm.

  14. Spruce St., Howard Dr., Alan Ct., Carol St., Cypress Ave., Sharon Ct., Chelsea Ct., Cathy Ave., Vine St.
These have all been untouched. We can complain from today until next year. Bottom line is that if you don’t see your tax dollars going to work, the only thing that will help is an internal investigation. There is enough tax dollars going into this township that the streets should be heated. Not sure whose pocket is getting lined, but I would surely like to find out!

  15. I toured our neighboring town – Toms River at 1pm and every secondary street, back road, cull-de-sac, you name it every single one of them was plowed.Iit seems like Lakewood DPW does not work on sundae.

  16. Was driving down Cedarbridge and was a disaster most of the way then the road was all of a sudden clean I realized I entered Brick and that explained it all.

  17. everybody seems to misunderstand what’s going on over here there is a three-day holiday The township is doing their best to call them up to see if they want to come into work and they’re doing to good job on that and I want to think the mayor of this town for doing a great job and keep it up thank you Mayor Acreman

  18. To InTruth – v/ funny. County Line Rd is a, ready ?, county road. Thats why it was plowed. No twsp rd was, tho. The drifts are making some roads clean & other quite messy. Yuk !!

  19. Medina road culdesac. We havent been plowed yet this year and very rarely get plowed. $9000 in taxes you would think i could get plowed out!

  20. @Lakewood Buff
The streets are going to look the same as last time. 45 min trip for carpool drop offs. 1 hour drive time to get to work (in Lakewood).
    Thanks for asking!!!!

  21. TLS, I know that there are a tremendous amount of people who visit this site, but have ANY officials responded in any way!!?? So far, it sounds like hardly any of the streets listed above (most of Lakewood) have been touched, so the question is, are the officials not getting the message, or are we being ignored! I would hate to think that those in charge are so condescending and heartless, but what else should we believe at this point? very frustrating…

  22. Forget township roads- what happened with Cedarbridge- suddenly stopped clear roads as got into Lakewood and even New Hampshire near the DPW?! I especially drove on those roads due to them being county roads but they were awful!!

  23. The reason the streets have not been plowed is an cost saving move in order to at least have the roads smooth for a few days as the compacted snow is a natural source to fix the massive pot holes and cracks with the natural source of snow and ice. I can’t remember driving down ridge Avenue and having such a smooth ride without having my tires slam into a deep pothhole or need to the need to swerve to avoid them. There are usually so many bumps on ridge. Today drive was the best it’s ever been. Keep up the great work lakewood public works and our professional and devoted political machine.such engenuity. What more can we expect from our tax dollars.

  24. there is no excuse for it being a weekend, extended weekend, holiday or surprise snow storm. THE TWP is responsible to have staff and proper equipment as well as supplies available for such emergencies.. There is something called forecasts and I received emails of the incoming weather… no excuse… other than bureaucratic red tape and employees who are backed by unions that don’t take their responsibility seriously – the safety of the residents of this town.

  25. Ashley Avenue between Wynatt and Lincoln. This major thoroughfare has not been plowed or salted. With Hundreds of cars an hour coming down this block it is very dangerous. This street should be the first street to be dealt with.
