VIDEO: While thousands across Lakewood and the rest of the region were sitting home watching and listening to news updates during Super-storm Sandy, Mayor Menashe Miller and Emergency Services Liaison Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien were busy as could be.
A TLS photographer caught up with the pair late Monday afternoon, and followed them to several scenes where they spared no energy in doing what they could to alleviate the other Emergency workers by doing the dirty work themselves.
From raking leaves to unclogging drains, to lifting heavy tree branches out of roadways and closing off dangerous roads, Meir and the Mayor stopped at nothing.
The Mayor and Committeeman Lichtenstien also made sure to thank the emergency workers, dispatchers and other emergency personnel for their dedication during the stressful and trying emergency situation.
NOTE: Despite the Township officials being reluctant to allow being videoed at times, TLS received permission to publicize some of the scenes to give readers an insight to some of the dangers emergency workers face during such storms).
Meir & Mayor –
You guys are the best! Thank you for all that you do (that which we know about and also for that which you both do in your quiet unassuming way.)
I am proud to have meir and menash as our representatives in Lakewood:)
The work they did miost definitely is the reason why lakekwood isnt as flooded as some other areas that i see online! Its those “small” things that count! May both of you be gebentched with much bracha and hatzlacha! And may you both be on the giving end always!
mi keamcha yisroel!
They both went down my block and got out to remove a fallen sign that came down on the road. I was wondering how long it would take till someone comes out to move it. These guys are the best!!
Real leadership. Kudos to both of them!
Thank you for the great Kiddush habshem you make
They are REAL people that truly care about others. You could see it in their every fiber of their being.
To #5, if you saw a sign down on the road and were wondering how long it would take for someone to come and remove it,what was wrong with you removing it,could have put it on the side of the street or is it beneith you to do something besides complain?
Thank you for Kiddush habshem you guys make all of us proud
