This is gonna be crazy I’m gonna have to leave my house at least 30 min before my regular time to be on time at work and I think I’m gonna have to skip out 2nd Seder due to traffic!!!!
Mayor Miller tho whole town agrees with U. I wish U can tell the Lakewood Police Dept Not to cooperate with the Conrail’s Mission to close our town’s busiest roads for 2 Full weekdays. After all isn’t the Mayor IN CHARGE??
Can you post a map of the alternate routes? I want to try to avoid them too!
Why didn’t they atleast show the actual site? I agree with that one guy ” it is what it is”
I just hope hatsala and all emergency vehicle would be able to go through
Such whiners. We survived the central avenue birdge being closed for two years. This is just for two days. A derailment could keep the intersection closed for weeks, and perhaps kill or injure many people. Remember the chemical spill derailment in NY? You know it’s coming, plan your days around it. I will. And, just so you know, emergency services , and I assume the township officials, have known about this for a long time so the angry protests from the mayor seem a bit melodramatic.
I don’t understand,I thought the Mayer and the township people were going to take care of it.What happened?
The next election is a year away so bad time to need help from the gov.
Smart ideas:
Fix the rails in middle of the night. They work on the BQE and other crazy arteries at night this should be no different.
Fix the rails on the weekend when people are not rushing to work and in this town many folks can’t drive on Saturday.
Bring in more man power and machines etc so it can be done in one night or a couple hours.
Give out chocolates and candy to appease miffed motorists.
Do it during the super bowl.
But why accuse them of being smart?
Dear Elected Officials,
We are busy at work and with our families. We don’t have the time or knowhow to make this problem go away. That is why we elected you. We want to be represented. When an inexcusable situation like this arises, we expect you to take care of it. We didn’t elect you to lower property taxes, because let’s face it. You won’t. As much as you’ve blamed your opponents, the fact that you were elected will change nothing. We have come to expect high property taxes, and failing to lower taxes may not cost you an election.
However if a company can shut down the spine of a congested town during the week, you will be held accountable and voted out of office. There is no excuse for this. We don’t want to hear that there is nothing that can be done. Because when it comes to day to day living we, the little guys get things done. We are balancing long working hours with large families. This wont be dragged under the rug and forgotten about. It is this kind of thing that gets the little guy, i.e hard working family man, angry enough to go out and vote. Please remember that you were elected to represent us and our concerns, and figure out a way to solve this problem. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Menachem
Is Conrail also going to replace the other rail points around the town in the coming weeks or months or is it just Route 9 for now and yes, there isn’t any reason this work can’t be done at night. Conrail just doesn’t want to pay overtime.
I wonder if anyone even spoke with Conrail! Do they even know about the issue? is there anyway to get them to care?
There actually may be. Let the city (which makes a lot of money, don’t worry about it) pay Conrail for the extra cost incurred for doing this at night.
How much will the extra man power cost? a hundred grand? nothing the city can not afford and more importantly nothing the city is not responsible for.
Sorry folks it is a legit issue to be concerned about if you live down the nine.
Yes its an incovenience..but When exactly is a good time in Lakewood..Never..there is always traffic on Route 9. Working on off peak hours just makes those overpaid state workers make more money..contractually. And the length of roadway that will technically be affected is not even a half mile of roadway..just saying.
Menachem – Wow. Well said. We can hear the passion in ur voice. Hatzlocha.
To Jog A Thon – I actually disagree with your assumption of Menachem. It’s not passion that you hear, it’s anger and misplaced blame that you are hearing and one that’s showing to be an ungrateful person. Fact of the matter, the mayor has been very clear from the beginning that he is going to take on this issue head on and going to do whatever he can to resolve it (which in fact he did) the mayor as everyone knows works very hard for each and everyone of us and goes above and beyond the call of duty (one of the mayor’s favorite lines)…
For someone to go and lecture the mayor and hold him accountable while he is working hard to resolve this issue I think is anything but passionate. .
