  1. there’s no confusion at all, the tzibur knows who they want to vote for, let people vote for who they want to vote for, the rabonim did not say who to vote for in the township, only the presidential-Trump

  2. Does the VAAD represent us the taxpayers? Who is on the VAAD? Who chose these people? Was there an election from us for them to represent us? Who do they actually represent?

    • That is not true at all! It is impossible to make decisions that everyone will be happy with but they definitely have the tzibbur’s greater interest in mind.

  3. Oh my gosh…but Trump doesn’t have a (D) after his name. I guess the Vaad has given up expecting the Democrats to provide tuition relief anytime soon. In light of this, maybe Avi Schnall should give up the embarrassing (D) that he unfortunately attached to himself and cross the aisle to the party that is actually more in line with Torah values. Just a thought.

    • Hay Shua!
Sounds like you know quite a bit about politics and party affiliation! Go do a little bit more research before you share your intelligent “thoughts” with others.

    • You are truly a real intelligent clown! Unfortunately there are a lot of wise guys like you that populate this town without any seichel at all! Did you ever need the help of an askan before? I hope not…

    • So I suppose we should just listen to Al Jazeera. Or maybe we should start asking you for your sage advice. Who needs people that are experienced in these areas and that have aren’t interests in mind? Let’s just ask you what you think and go with that….

      • We can figure it out for ourselves. You’re not helping anyone by assuming everyone is dumb. If you want to do a good deed you can disseminate factual information about each candidates record and allow the people to make their own informed decision.

You can also sign your name. I can’t sign mine as I want my kids to remain in school.

    • Another clown here! The vaad is a group of experienced and educated people who endorse politicians. It’s people who have common sense (not like you) that appreciate being part of a community and the value of voting as a block even if it may not benefit you individually.

  4. Same recommendations as always for township committee, school board, congress will give the same results that got this town overcrowded, public schools in distress, property taxes that go up every year while spending for nonsense items and resource mismanagement is rampant and public meetings that are held virtually so that we can’t hold them accountable face to face. Time for new representation.

  5. can the VADD, finally please stand up and state your names already???? so we can get to know exactly who’s interest your are representative of.

    • Hey Isaac! Go look it up! It’s not classified information. They are real people that you can actually talk to and they will actually explain their position.

  6. In 2020, Lakewood set the record as the most Republican municipality in NJ, with 82.3% voting for Trump.

This year, I think we can break 90%!

    • Hay Jay!
Reb Avigdor Miller is someone that had common sense and who saw and understood how rotten the Democratic party was before others realized. It would not apply at all in a case where someone is part of that party only for party affiliation reasons but they do not have those opinions and don’t vote that way. Do you know anything about politics and party affiliation?
I don’t believe he said that anyhow since parties can change their stance over times so it would become irrelevant at that point. The point that Rabbi Miller would often stress would be regarding voting for things that may be financially better for someone but lacking in the area of values.

  7. STOP THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS and Loshon Horah. The Vaad was created by the Lakewood Roshei Yeshiva some 25 years ago. It includes a cross-section of long-time Lakewood residents, including Horav Shmuel Blech, Dr. Jonathan Cohen, R’ Moshe Zev Weisberg, R’ Mordecai Levi, R’ Binyomin Heinneman, R’. Avrohom Moshe Moller, R’ Yossi Atlas, and others. It recommendations are based on a wide consensus of the leadership, Askonim, Mosdos and members of the Tzibbur. Disagree if you wish, but it’s recommendations have won the trust of the Tzibbur as evidenced by the continuing trust by Roshei Yeshiva and Rabbonim, thousands of followers and decades of election results. (Also, consider signing your real name if you want to be taken seriously.)

    • The Vaad is not a cross section at all, its a bunch of old timers that all live in a small part of Lakewood all relics of the old Lakewood. Add some young blood “Tax Paying” members from different parts of Lakewood and the Vaad will gain some trust. No member can have any direct benefit from the town.

    • They definitely won the trust of the oilam… As evidenced when they endorsed murphy over ciaterelli…
Hopefully that trend continues as this town is going downhill faster than one could imagine.

    • I used to vote lockstep with the Vaad but after seeing the quality of life in Lakewood fall precipitiosly over the last 20 years, you no longer have my trust. I’m actually happy to see people challenge the status quo & demand answers from the Vaad for allowing this to happen. You had ample opportunities to change course over the last 20 years to right the ship & get the infrastructure needed for a growing town. I’m baffled why you endorsed the same candidates every election cycle while Lakewood was slowly being ruined. I won’t sign my name for obvious reasons. It’s time for the Vaad to be fully reorganized if you want my trust back.

  8. For all the shallow minded people here asking “who’s the Vaad? Why should we listen to them?” You can vote for whoever the heck you want. The Vaad is here to represent the tzibbur at large. What does it matter if some “business owners” are part of the Vaad? Should we have some 15 year old yeshiva drop-outs giving us there expertise? You can speak to them and they will explain their position. One may not agree with or benefit from a choice that they make, and as I said you can vote for whoever you want. But most people here fail to understand the value of a block vote. It is extremely valuable in election season and politicians pay attention to that. Sometimes they back a candidate due to a guarantee and sometimes they back a candidate due to hakoras hatov by how they treated our community. One is definitely allowed to vote however they want and sometimes the Vaad probably expects that most people won’t listen to them in some instances (like in the case of Corzine), either way, the power of a block vote is very valuable. So if you have a specific reason for voting for a particular candidate – go ahead. But if not, what do you have to lose by voting for who they tell you?

  9. When I first came to Lakewood 35 years ago, the “Vaad” told us to vote for candidate who wanted to tax us $6,000,000 to make upgrades to Lakewood Airport to revitalize Lakewood etc. and we all obeyed.
Go drive by the airport and tell me where that money went. Every time I drive by the airport I am reminded once again how never to trust the Vaad.
Since then, my taxes have gone from $3600 for a little townhouse to about $12,000 with unbearable traffic and building ETC…..what exactly have they accomplished? NOTHING!

  10. when i speak to the rosh yeshivas about it, they tell me they are not involved. The achdus card is so lame, vote for the candidate based on good policy- that will stop the nonsense road closures ( they just redid the entire south lake drive last year, they are now ripping it all up to add pipes) absolutely no oversight or planning about projects that affect the tzibur! lets ALL vote for the right candidate (raitzig) and then indeed we will have both achdus, and good policy

  11. after putting us through a year and a half of constant rt 9 evening closures (on the south side) which included moving over the poles 2 feet ,adding hydrants to the lip of rt 9, adding side walks with huge curbs and patches of grass, they are now discussing a new project of widening route 9, this is mamish CHELM! this can be a chelm story in the Jewish Press, they will rip out all they did and put us through another 3 years of road closures , this is what you get when your elected officials dont have boots on the ground, and let things just roll without proper planning, oversight and have no awareness of the daily grind that we are going through

  12. For those quoting Rav Miller against voting Democrat, this has to do with their anti Torah moral values
In this Senate election the REPUBLICAN candidate, Curtis Bashaw is proud of living a lifestyle that is contrary to Torah values.
The other candidate has shown an interest in reaching out to and addressing our community concerns. Things to consider when making your decision.
