Is there a live stream for those of us that aren’t “Bachurim”?

Keep ’em coming!!! Us fathers also want to be (remotely) part of this!

Please post Reb Shalom Ber’s drasha, I can’t hold back my tears

“the situation here, is B’emes the most choshive tzibur in klal yisroel”

THATS how you talk to bochrim, not ban ban ban ban

Oy Vey!

Some of the earlier clips showed the slow music and more hartzig songs. However, I can assure that right now its, uh, k’nocking. It’s that Musicality factor, as you well know.
Chag Sameach !!

I was moved to tears when Rabbi Sorotzkin spoke. He spoke so positively about the choshuve buchrim. I am a working person in corporate America. I am moved beyond words how chushiv our buchrim are. They are tzadikim. In their white shirts, with their flip phones, they are having an uplifting good time. Contrast that with the outside world. Contrast them with myself and most other working people who have smartphones.

And while I am so moved, I am angry that they were made to feel that they were doing bad by having this kumzitz. Rabbi Sorotzkin in being positive was using the method of his Debbie, our beloved gadol hador, Reb Ahron Leon Zatzal.

Did this justify:

a) The Chilul Hashem
b) Gezel Shaina
c) Public Humilation

Ashamed

I say no, it was not justified.

Whether the cancellation of the concert was right or wrong is beside the point.
The point is that we must respect our elders. It is our duty to teach the next generation respect and basic tact (to be a mentch!).

As an individual just a few years older then these youngsters and personally witnessed the chaos; I would like to thank the police departments from Lakewood and surrounding townships for their support that night. (The folks protesting did not either take into consideration the resources needed to control the crowd).

In my opinion, this concert rewarded bac behavior. The end did NOT justify the means.

You gotta love Beri and Yossi. I got the chills listening to “Lo al Tzidkoseinu” when the band totally was quiet and the oilam sang. Gorgeous !!!

Riboin by Beri Webber is my favorite song of all time. It never gets old.

Behavior

When 1 or 2 or even a small group of teens misbehave it’s the kids(or their parents) fault /problem. And u have to guide /disciplin them.

When 500 kids misbehave. It’s the communities problem. you have to fix /guide the comunity or the leadership or the system

It looks very nice. Too bad it couldn’t be Chol HaMoed. By then, the bochurim will for sure be jumping out of their skins, going to Chucky Cheese or Pump it Up with their little brothers and sisters for the umpteenth time!

@Ashamed : Who are the “Elders” that must be respected ? I have not heard ONE name of a Rov or Rosh Yeshiva that Assured it ….(In Fact R’ Jacobs from BMG was scheduled to speak) It was done by some people who think they can control my children. These are not the Askonim who are there for us 24/7/365, plain guys who have nothing better to do. Not sure who has time the week of Pesach to sit and make calls and threats when their wives are slaving away cleaning and cooking !! I know I wouldn’t eat at their houses on Yom Tov!!!! I am not condoning with how the protest/kumzitz went at FP. My children asked me and I said not to go . I wish the boys would have sat down with guitars , played a little music to prove their point and then leave. Last night’s event was beautiful , Kosher and enjoyed by the HUNDREDS of kids that went . Unfortunately some people were frantically trying to stop it . But the organizers did not cave in, they stood their ground and I commend them . One of my son’s Yeshivas called and said they don’t want the boys going , so he didn’t. My other sons went and had a blast . Reb Sorotzkin spoke well and I admire him for attending and his speech. This was not a reward for bad behavior, this was showing the boys that you can be frum, learn and have kosher fun afterwards. We have too many children hanging on by a thread R”L, let’s be mechazik them , not push them over the edge C”V . Just my .02

@ Miss Informed
Kudos to you for telling your children not to attend the protest to your children for asking permission and actually listening.
But where were the rest of the parents??

I’m not here to debate if the cancellation was right or wrong or who even instigated it.
I’m saying there was a better way to handle the response to it.
Life will throw us many curveballs and decisions may not always be fair. The parents and community have an obligation
and responsibility to raise our kids with the proper respect/manners and learn to properly address such situations.
(Perhapes they could have signed petition or start a respectful dialogue to better understand).

As for rewarding bad behaviour- I am reffering to the kids which attended the protest. Yes, it may have not been fair to your kids or others who did not attend (maybe it would have been best to say only the ones who did not attend the protest have permission to attend the concert), but we are setting a bad example to the ones who did, because in their minds- they protested and that is why they had the concert at the end.

Yes, they got the concert, but ask yourself: Did the end justify the means? Was it worthwhile to spread Chilul Hashem, cause Gezel Sheina and Public Humilation?

Thank you ashamed. You sound so like me I’m sure there are people who think I was the one who poster. Having the event last night was the antithesis of chinuch. As you said life will throw most of us curveballs. Learning how to deal with things as a child leads to a healthier adult. All this will lead to is a spoiled generation

@cd stopping the kumzitz the way it happened is the antithesis of being a normal frum yid. Life may throw us curve balls but when it’s a random person curving the ball for his own twisted agenda, no one has to accept it as such.

I don’t see spoiled children, I see 500+ future askonim!!

@Ashamed , I think you’re starting form the wrong end . I am willing to debate why it was stopped . I still have not heard the name of a Rov that assured it .It is up to me as a parent to decide what is or is not good for my children , I BH have a Rov if I have a question as to what is permissible or not . Hiding behind a robo call saying “the Rosh Yeshivas said” doesn’t work for me . This was not a “life curveball” this was a person with too much time on their hands trying to tell me and all the other parents in Lakewood how to raise our children. The reason my children listen to me is because they know I am involved with the Klal 24/7 (I won’t elaborate) and we discuss the issues rather than just follow the crowd . Of course Daas Torah is always listened to in my house , but again where is the Kol Koreh saying it’s assur ??? It’s been three days already and no Rov said a word about it .The behavior of the boys that night caused a great Chillul Hashem , horrible, I couldn’t agree more. But the instigators of the cancellation shares that with the boys that caused it. The world is a terrible place and only getting worse . Kids need an outlet for good kosher fun, that was the Siyum/Kumzitz that was organized . Being honest with your children leads to them becoming healthier adults who stand with the EMES. Making up stuff and stories doesn’t .Trying to stuff all kids into a single mold has already been disproven with catastrophic consequences R”L . It’s time to realize that …

As someone who was involved in the event last night – no I wasn’t part of the first event or the protest – I got involved later when one of the RY asked me to get involved
The out come of the final meeting at 7:00pm was that there is no Kol koreh and the RY of Lakewood are not assuring or mattering it –
Each individual RY should tell his Bouchrim if they should go or not
Which many yeshivas did so text messages or phone calls
The robo call in the name of the RY was totally false

@Miss Informed
I think we are really saying the same thing.
I understand your perspective, although you keep stating you have not heard of a single Rov which assured the event, I heard otherwise that there was a single Rov who did. (I don’t think 2 “regular” people would have succeeded to shut it down on their own).

My point was not to say that others can dictate your children’s upbringing, it was to shed light to the inappropriate response and it seems that you agree the tremendous chilul Hashem resulted from these misguided actions.

Ashamed

@Young Adult
No one said you must accept it; you must teach how to properly deal with it.
In life there will be many curveballs from individuals with various intentions.
Are we teaching our youngsters to have a tantrum until they get their way?? or will we give them the tools to prepare them for real life?
