How does a 23¢ tax increase translate to a 40¢ raise in price?

So the government goes up $.23 and the gas station rips everybody else off and it’s another $.20?

Why did it go up 40¢ in the picture if it’s a 23¢ tax?

why do people go to Exxon in the first place there gas is always a lot higher then Wawa and many other stations. I went to Wawa last night gas was $1.91 today it is $2.14. Exxon last night was $1.99 today $2.39 do the math you save .25 cents getting your gas at Wawa.

That is a classic case of price gouging. Report it. They are legally not allowed to do that.

There was an explosion on a gas line feeding the new York area. Wholesale gas just shot up, this we got hit with a double whammy, 23 cent tax hike, and a 10% price increase. Hopefully the price increase is only temporary.

We couldn’t rely on our fiscally “conservative” governor. In fact, he was the proponent for this tax, with the audacity to sell it as a way that we will end up SAVING money…

We need to find representation that will find ways to cut spending – rather then keep raising and raising our damn taxes.

Mr. Christie’s legacy will forever remain (besides Bridggate) that he ended the only redeeming aspect of this once great State (cheap gas).

Highest property taxes. From the highest gas taxes.

Just wait for even more businesses to flee this State.

It’s time to leave…..

Other stations only whent up 23 cents. This highly priced gas station should be banned.

Remember to vote NO on questions one and two. Lets stop the crazy borrowing and spending by the Trenton Politicians.

Why should we have a special law to tell Trenton how to spend the tax money? The Democrats said the gas tax was to be used to fix the roads and bridges, can’t they keep their word? This is why we need to replace the Politicians the next time they are up for re election!
