During the OEM meeting yesterday, Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer spoke about the advantages of having an armed security guard in schools in Shuls.

The guards, says Meyer, have a wealth of history, information, skills, training and mindset, and will actually pull the trigger when they need to.

  1. The downsides to such an idea should also be considered. Placing armed gatekeepers at shuls creates an environment of exaggerated fear and unease amongst the shul goers and the entire community as a whole.
