Dozens of FDNY firefighters took to the streets to ride 343 miles in honor of the 343 firefighters who died during the 9/11 attacks – days before the 15th anniversary.
The ride started yesterday in Montauk NY, and will end on September 11 in Arlington Virginia.
This afternoon, the tour made its way from Howell to Toms River, passing through Lakewood via Route 9.
All donated proceeds from the ride assisted go to help support severely injured veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan that have been protecting the USA.
“Our organization has decided that every 5 years we will duplicate the 343 mile ride,” the organization said. “The four years in between we will ride from Ground Zero in Manhattan to Montauk Point, NY to honor our fallen brothers that died on that tragic day, as well as those who have died from illnesses acquired while assisting in the recovery in lower Manhattan.”

Hard to believe it’s been 15 years. I remember it like yesterday. Prayers for their families.
