A lavish 5-course VIP dinner was held Sunday night at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park to benefit Yesodos.
The event was graced by Baalei Batim and Askonim who got together to show their support for the vital school – the only such school in Lakewood.
Addressesing the crowd, was renowned speaker Harav Moshe Tuvi Lieff (see clip below).
Yesodos is a lifeline for Lakewood elementary school age boys who have serious academic, social and/or emotional challenges. (See letter here from the Roshei Yeshivah.)
The school is there for boys whose challenges are too significant for mainstream mosdos, even with self-contained classes, but too moderate for the conventional special-ed mosdos.
Every detail of the Yesodos program is overseen by the menahel, a special-ed guru with decades of experience, along with several other leading Lakewood experts in this field. Yesodos talmidim enjoy a comprehensive limudei kodesh and general studies curriculum during a full school day – similar to what their peers in mainstream mosdos enjoy. The rabbeim and teachers deliver each lesson with enthusiasm. The classes are filled with music, visual learning and one-on-one interactions. Exciting trips, parties, and more, dot the school calendar.
Upon graduating from the school, the boys proceed to learn in mainstream Mesivtos and Batei Medrashim. Many alumni now lead upstanding families, and hold successful positions in the business and chinuch worlds.
Last year, the school shut down due to extreme financial difficulties. It reopened a short time later after a few dedicated Baalei Batim took it upon themselves to carry the budget.
But the burden became too much for just a few to carry, so Askonim have reached out to the rest of the community for help in saving these Neshamos.

Why don’t the post the info before the dinner, so more people can attend. There a lot of people who don’t make the VIP lists that have a lot of money and would be happy to donate, but don’t get invited.
