VIDEO: The holes of a Lakewood storm drain were apparently too large for a small kitten walking across it, and as a result found itself at the bottom of the drain – about 15 feet down.
A neighbor who heard the kitten crying for help called Chaveirim, and minutes later a member was climbing down the drain to save the freezing and snow-covered cat.
With freezing water gushing on top of him, the member managed to locate the drenched kitten and placed it in a box.
The members then used a rope to pull up the box and bring the kitten to safety. The young animal was placed in a warm patrol car until Animal Control arrived and took the kitten away.
“With the near-freezing temperatures, and with no food, the kitten probably would not have made it too much longer,” a Chaveirim member told TLS.
