Isn’t that how all the yeshivos of yesteryear went?! From father to son / son-in-law? I don’t see anything amusing with the phenomenon, luckily R’ Chaim Mendel and some other people in such positions have children of stature who are on par with being compatible to inherit such positions יחי אדוני המלך דוד לעולם

It brings with the holy direct Mesorah of Klal Yisroel of the great Roshei Yeshiva back in the Lita, direct links back to Sinai.
Where gadlus and authentic mesorah meet is what we see here the look of ultimate humility and greatness which is clearly evident in Harav Chaim Mendel’s disposition reminds me similarly to my rebbe Harav Asher Arieli both brothers in law
It’s not every day that I see his name in a public forum Brings back fond memories of my days in Mir Yeshiva (Flatbush) being together with R’ CM by R’ Shmuel Brudny He was head and shoulders way way above everyone already then quite many decades ago but although I personally was not the brightest bulb amongst the bunch but as always his mere presence showered everyone around him with such positivity and good feeling a adom gadol from his youth the joke then amongst us was that ‘R’ Shmuel is saying his shiur to “Chavrusa Chaim Mendel”’
