Video & Photo Essay: The Trial Of The State Of NJ Vs Jahmell Crockam

VIDEO & PHOTOS [WARNING-MAY CONTAIN GRAPHIC FOOTAGE] of what is expected to be a 6 week trial of the State of New Jersey Vs Jahmell Crockam, the man accused of executing Police Office Chris Matlosz.

The trial – attended by family and friends of Matlosz – began on Wednesday – with statements from Sergeant Vigna of the Lakewood Police. Vigna, the first on scene, described to the Judge what he witnessed.

“I immediately noticed his shirt was covered in blood…there was no signs of life that I could detect”, Vigna told the Prosecutor.

Also testifying in Court, was Captain Greg Meyer, who responded to the scene moments following the shooting and described what he saw, as a commanding officer.

Also watch as the Defense Attorney, Mark Fury, begins his Defense by telling the jurors that they will hear much information about the alleged shooter, but they will – in his opinion – have a hard time proving that Crockam was actually the shooter.

“One of the things that is undisputed, is that Jahmell Crockam was in Lakewood on that day”, the Defense said. “Officer Matlosz died on that day.” “He doesn’t dispute he was there.” ‘What he denies, is that he was the shooter”, Fury told the jury.

The jury has already heard from several witnesses who claimed to have seen the shooting, and the shooter.

Also watch video footage from the inside of the patrol car where Matlosz was killed, which was recorded from the moments after the first officer – Sgt Vigna – arrived on scene. The video was shown to the jury.

On Thursday, the Jury heard the dramatic 911 calls where the witnesses could be heard pleading with the dispatcher to send officers immediately, as the officer ‘is going to die’. One of the witnesses describes the scene to the dispatchers saying the door was open and the officer was slumped over after she saw a black man shoot the officer three times.

what a tradegy for the Matlosz family to relive this horrible slaughter. It saddens me when people can go out and kill someone with no remorse. NJ needs the death penalty now.

I too want to see justice served, but it sounds from some of the comments that he is guilty no matter what the jury says, yes hes a prime suspect but he must be convicted by a jury of his peers. if we cannot except that then we will be thrown back 100 years when it was mob rule and if people didnt like the verdict they would lynch the guy (ie..Leo Frank) let the process play out and dont jump to conclusions

that animal is sitting there on trial for this, and not a single facial expression.

and that lawyer appointed to that animal; how can you sleep at night? how can you even act like that in court? how do you crack a smile while talking? – DISGUSTING.

Thank you TLS for your respect to everyone involved in this horrific incident and to the general public. You put a WARNING on the content and video so that people can chose to see/listen at their choice and discretion, unlike the (moderated) who just shoves photos of the bloodied car interior in your face

Our prayers for, courage under stress, a sense of well being that justice will prevail, and knowledge that the criminal justice system will wind it’s way through all of the evidence, go to Officer Matlosz’s family and friends.

May he rest in peace while the suspect, charged with his murder is under fire from the justice system. There is no way to undo the terrible events that led to Officer Matlosz’s death, but we honor his memory, and respect his fellow Officers of LPD, his family and friends.

May God bless them all, and get them through the trial with all of the love, respect, and support from Lakewood residents.

Agreed, #11. All human beings are subject to divine punishment. Getting the death penalty is a courtesy in comparison to what he should suffer in the afterlife.

The best we can do is mete out justice, but there are countless criminals that don’t get convicted when they should have been. If you believe in G-d, you can be comforted knowing there is an accounting for all.
