VIDEO: R’ Yehoshua Brisk, the father in law of R’ Yossi Herskowitz of Lakewood, spoke for a crowd of about 200 people in Baltimore this week, in part of Learn & Network’s Zichron Churban Europe project for the 9 days.
R’ Brisk, born in Romania, is one of the youngest survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp. He was 14 years old during the war. R’ Brisk also survived the Bistritz ghetto, Kaufering and other nazi camps.
Watch how R’ Brisk describes fascinating details about the war, including how he had to get toes amputated due to frostbite, how he didn’t eat his bread portion for 8 days during Pesach and more.
The event was hosted at the Agudath Yisroel of Park Heights, Rabbi Heinaman’s Shul.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, at Bais Shaindel High School, Lakewood will hear live testimonials from two of the few remaining survivors of that precarious period. Click here for more details on the event in Lakewood tomorrow.

What’s with the sound???
R’ Brisk’s strength is astounding!!
I would like to publicly thank him for sharing his life story…. It puts our silly mundane hardships in perspective….. and served as an important reminder of what happened not too long ago.
This is an extension of Learn and Network’s Chizuk Evenings geared for the 9 days.
Separate Seating for men and women.
All are encouraged to attend tomorrow in Lakewood.
Wow!! That was powerful… Thank you to Mr. Morrone, R’ Topas, and R’ Pinkus. I came home inspired and appreciate the opportunity to have heard the stroies you encountered.
