@editor, while these “musical selichos” may attract some disaffected Yidden that may not have otherwise come to Selichos nonetheless, it seems that the consensus of the Gedolim is that this isn’t the proper way to go. As such, posting about this should be taboo.

where did you get the concensus ? What issue of the “Consensus of the Gedolim” Journal was it published?

You’ll be much more productive worrying about yourself , not others

Consensus? Well just most Rabbanim and Rosheo Yeshivah.
Have YOU never heard a schmooze about it?
Yest it IS perhaps appropriate for some, but when the outlier becomes the norm….
And no, The KLAL part of Klal Yisroel includes me worrying about what “others” in the klal find acceptable.

The reform movement started by bringing in musical instruments to the Shul. Of course only on weekday . Eventually years later it eas on Shabbos also.

Happy to serve Hashem with Simcha

@yossie I disagree with you 1000% this IS a feel good religion. Mitzvos are to be done with tremendous simcha. Just because you serve Hashem in your own unique way, Hashem has no problem with people who serve Him with love and happiness. On the contrary we just read in the Parsha that the churbon happened because we didn’t serve Hashem with simcha. ( I’m not getting involved with the slichos music debate, just arguing on the “this is not a feel good religion”)

asolutley you are supposed to do the mitzvos bsimcha
but first night of selichos ushers in the holy days and
its supposed to be serious not jumping up and down with music
certain things dont need to be spelled out in shulchan aruch
its doesnt say anywhere thta you cant have a comedian by a levaya
there are just certain things that you dont do

TLS, you didn’t print my comment and also deleted another reader’s previous comment that had shed you in bad light. This is reminiscent of what Twitter did to Trump…

Very nice! Almost as nice as regular serious derhoibeneh selichos.
