  1. This is so nice. But bittersweet for me. I was supposed to be there this year and the charter flight I was booked on cancelled. So , I was NOT in Uman this year. I was in Lakewood, where , H-shem wanted me. oh, well.

  2. I know some of you will probably jump on me for saying this but it doesnt make what I am about to say not true; After seeing all of these video clips on various sites taken before Rosh Hashana after Rosh Hashana and even ON Rosh Hashana, the only conclusion I make from all of this is that if the emphasis would be on the real avodah of Rosh Hashana and the time would be spent on the real preparation for Rosh Hashana – for example Limmud Hatorah, learning mussar and other worthwhile deeds that could help carry the day – you wouldnt need any of this havel havolim. All of this havel havolim is just a substitute for the real thing…. and it doesn’t even come close to the real thing.

  3. @cool. Shkoyach. Ur such a genius. Sadly, many of us don’t have the ability to be inspired by deep introspection and Mussar talks. So we need to be uplifted by singing and dancing. Now, ask urself, you don’t get uplifted by a nice niggun by davening ? Most ppl do. I was s’pposed to be in Uman this yr. Flight got cancelled. But I had a wonderful uplifting experience at R Simcha Greenwald Minyan with singing and some dancing. Some ppl get inspired by singing.

  4. Jog a thon – I am not talking about singing (and even dancing) during davening. Your’e absolutely right! Who doesn’t enjoy a hartziga niggun during davening, especially during the Yomim Noroim. I am talking about all this hoililus every step of the way from the airport and on, all through the days leading up to Rosh Hashana. It became the norm so people like yourself and others even not Bresslever chassidim dont find anything wrong with it.
Take for example, a conncert the night of erev Rosh Hashana… is that normal? If you look in sifrei mussar they all discuss the concept of coming to Rosh Hashana with humility and with a sense of nothingness as the best way to be zoicha on Rosh Hashana- most people the night before are preparing one way or another for Rosh Hashana…. but to have a rock concert the night of erev Rosh Hashana??? It is totally not the way one should prepare for the Yom Hadin.. And all this inspiration stuff is empty words….it doesnt do a didly… its just an excuse for hoilelus….

  5. cool masmid-firstly if u r such a masmid then Y are u posting on the lakewood scoop?? GO LEARN!
secondly- the people that go to the concerts are the people that will be drunk before rosh hashana, go look for the REAL breslover chassidim and u will NOT FIND THEM THERE!
