Nicklas Shimonovich , the Lakewood Twp. Police Dept. officer who was killed in an off-duty accident in September, had been planning to compete in the Mr. America bodybuilding competition in Atlantic City last month—and would have been introduced to the audience by Steve Peacock, a professional “master of ceremonies” who also is a teacher at Lakewood High School.

Peacock, who was emcee of the Lakewood Basketball Association/Lakewood Police Foundation fundraiser sponsored by The Lakewood Scoop earlier this year, learned about those thwarted plans afterwards.

“As I did not have a chance to offer recognition of the fallen officer during Mr. America, I created this video as a post-event tribute,” Peacock told the Scoop. “I’m delighted to say that Nick’s parents—Lt. Robert Shimonovich and Det. Jeannette Shimonovich of LTPD—have seen and have given their blessing to this video tribute.”
