VIDEO: Lakewood High School Students Sort Through Thousands of items Donated to Families who Lost Belongings in Fires

Lakewood unites.

When crisis strikes, you can count on Lakewood in coming together to be there in time of need.

In just a couple days, thousands of items of clothing and more have been donated for the families who lost their belongings in last weekend’s fires in Lakewood.

“It’s an amazing sight to see,” said Board of Education Moshe Bender who has been overseeing the project with Superintendent Laura Winters.

Now, dozens of Lakewood High School students are sorting through the items and organizing them.

Organizers want to give a shoutout to Charles DePeri who has spent countless hours with Red Cross and High School officials to ensure the operation ran smoothly.

Below is a video from Mordy Holder, of DPW, who has also volunteered his time to collect dozens of items for the families.

  1. Is the Red Cross not helping certain families because of legal status??? I just heard about a family that isn’t receiving any type of help with 3 very young children and are only able to put up a go fund me page to see if people will donate. VERY Concerning.
