Does he address the necessity of TWO stations on Monmouth ave? How about TWO stations on cederbridge.
Are any budget issues discussed? If not, how come? That is an important issue to the taxpayers.
It is always nice to see the faces of heros without a tragedy involved. May we never need their services..but rest easier knowing that Steve, Todd , Rodney and their crews are there if G-d forbid a need arises.
Where was commissioner LoBello?
there is a vol fire house and a paid fire house on those two streets , the vol firehouse does not have the room to house the paid fire men and their equipment. that is why there are two . we have two paid fire stations in order to have fast responce anywhere in town , does that answer your question number 1 ?
Just wanted to thank lfd for all they do! They recently put out a fire in our home. Much thanks. We will be ready to continue to donate!
#2 know before you blow…….Lakewoods Tax Rate is 3 + times less than any other surrounding towns or areas that are Lakewoods size. So before you spread rumors throughout your neighbors know this if we loose volunteer support over greed you will never see the tax rate as low as it is now because they would be forced to hire fire people to keaep the town protected. Learn your facts.
Absolutely not! This is ridiculous, its clearly cheaper to build one larger building than two small ones on the same block. (assuming that the excuse your giving about lack of space is real…). Whats the real reason why the volunteers cant share space and equipment?
How come 6640 isnt in this interview?
thank you volunteers!
Re #1 & # 2 -These 3 Chiefs of the Volunteer FD have nothing to do with the reason that the FH’s are where they are, or the budget. But, the FH’s are strategically located in different areas of town so the time it takes a Volunteer Fire Company to respond to a fire is relatively equal for all of the residents of the town. All taxpayers have an equal right to the same service. The State and ISO – do dicate things, and base your Homeowners insurance on criteria which if not met by the Fire Service means your Ins. goes sky high!!! There are reasons for all of the things done by the town to provide you Fire Protection. And remember these guys & all the members are VOLUNTEERS, and w/o them, your Fire budget goes easily over $20million. Look at some other towns & cities w/no volunteers and see what their budgets are!
PTO Rob Lopez for comiteeman
Thank you TLS – for doing an interview of a few of the many vounteers Lakewood is so lucky to have. There are over 80 more men & women that work side by side w/them in just the Fire Dept.
How about some interviews with other Vol. Emergency Services or Organizations in town? Thanks to all of the Brother & Sister FF’s and FP out there that are Lakewoods Bravest –
We were discussing TWO small Firehouses right next door to each other instead of a big one.
Officer/Chief Rodney Youmans is the closest thing LK’WD has to a super hero.
Superman would be proud.
Keep up the great work guys, stay safe.
Batman would be proud of commissioner LoBello
Good job in reaching out to publicly educate us residents. I often wondered what it would be like to be a fire guy. Kudos chief Rodney Todd Steve for being so considerate to the community.
we are so proud that lakewood is coming together. thank you to the chiefs for giving us so many good tips on simple fire safety issues. perhaps you guys can continue to give us tips once a month? thank you everyone at the scoop for using your site to help so many people.
thank you!
To the Tax payers of Lakewood I am one of the fire fighters who is not jewish. When my pager goes off I leave what ever I am doing to go to the fire. Many of times I have left important things to go Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas, my kids birthday party’s. The negative comments on this web site make it hard for me to keep responding I am starting to feel we are not welcome in the town any more. Sometimes I have to ask my self why do I put my life on the line for some people who don’t appreciate what we do. But then I remember that is the oath I took to protect every and any resident even the ungrateful ones.

I am a FF here in lakewood also, and as bad as you feel I agree with you but, and this is a big but, you love what you do and you feel proud at what you do.
I feel frustrated with everything that is going on but when I put on my bunkers and jump on that truck there is no greater feeling than that (ok when my kids were born…..) keep that in mind.
See you on the third floor my brother.
