  1. The event was beautiful, the music was great, Ems, police, fire fighters ensuring the saftey of the people, what more can people expect for the price they paid for admission. I saw not one unhappy person there last night. Saw lots of young boys on bicycles with mp3 players having a great time, Mr. Witteman even noted them asking them if they liked music and were interested in learning how to play, and they all giggled. The only disappointing thing was, it was on the 1st and not the 4th, and the change in the location on the lake was disapointing but was still a wonderful display. Thank you to all that participated in the planning and working of this event, and dont forget thank you to the most high, our creator, who says we are to be thankful in ALL things who has kept this nation intact and strong, and allows us to have the freedoms we have, and to be able to celebrate these freedoms like this

  2. Celebrating the 4th is never a waste of taxpayer money , the only problem I have it was on th wrong day.
for those who took part they do deserve thanks from everyone, the group who decided to change the date ~ Shame on them

  3. Are you all getting off of work on Monday this year? NEWS FLASH: Monday is the 5th! Also the wrong day! I don’t hear anybody complaining nown do I?

  4. Great compromise. Better show than last year at half the cost. It really does not matter that it was on the 1st. We are patrioticolly showing thanks to this medinah shel chesed that Hashem has provided to us for their independence. SO STOP COMPLAINING YOU BITTER BLOGGERS AND BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE. Had the event been cancelled completely, you complain. Had they spent to much taxpayer money, you complain. Bunch of whiners.

  5. Anyone see at the end of this that the barge the fireworks were on ..was on FIRE…in an area where the Fire Dept could not get to it to put it out..that was the best place..watching the fireworks barge burn..Priceless!!

  6. To. “1Volunteer FF says” you must be a nube I’ve watched fire trucks shoot water half way across during their training sessions. If necessary they could have had the barge flooded in no time but for safety reason I guess they let it burn. If need they could have used the fire boat.

  7. hey #15 i saw plenty of EMS and Police units around. Why didn’t you ask for help from them before going to the hospital?

  8. To anonymous I did see one fire van and I did wave him down and he kept driving. Even if I would have found someone to help I’m sure they would have told me to go the hospital as you can see the blister in my eye now I can’t say for sure but I believe that they would have not been able to provide the proper help or prescriptions that I now need but thanks for that lovely suggestion

  9. Are we kidding here? I could maybe understand the 2nd (Friday), 3rd (Saturday), or gasp even the 4th to have the display…but the 1st (Thursday). Come on now! If the 4th fell during the week then I could understand having the show then, but the 4th is on a Sunday when all can go see it. What’s next, holiday displays in September so no one gets a chill? Only in Lakewood…..

  10. #18 It’s called celebrating our countrys Independence Day. Do you want to cancel the Memorial Day Parade next so we don’t waste the fuel the firetrucks used? Even in tough times you have to give the people something to look forward to.

  11. I pledge allegiance to the Flag ofthe United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands; one Nation under GOD indivisble, with liberty and Justice for all.
    Happy July 4th to all

  12. does not matter what day it was done on all that matters is that our town gathered together to celebrate a great piece of american history so for all you complaining about tax dollars stop.

  13. to number 15 wrong place wrong time for you im sure someone would have helped you if you walked over and opened your mouth im sure the EMS get alot of people waving to them as in saying hello.

  14. the fireworks company had to take out an insurance policy and your treatments may be covered. Call the town managers office.

  15. there were several ambulances standing by for the fireworks if one was not nearby to your location you could have went up to a police officer and an ambulance or EMT would have been sent to your location and done whatever could have been done to help you

  16. I show my appreciation the USA every time I step into the voting booth! That is the most American thing to do! These fireworks are as stupid as mothers day! it is commerative but not the real thing!

  17. No 24- “Come on now ”
They (LFD) have small floating pumps that that can be place in any boat and used to fight fire if needed

Any boat + floating pump and hose line = fire boat
