Not really. The fire is contained within the structure and is not exposed to the rain as much as one would think. Furthermore, one of the most tedious aspects of fire suppression is overhaul. That’s when firefighters conduct a thorough sweep of the structure including in between walls and ceilings. Fire can be very stubborn and can continue smouldering, and even flare up, for quite some time after the initial fire is knocked down. Counterintuitive as it may seem, rain does not necessarily help extinguish a structure fire.
