One dog died and another was rescued after a fire broke out at a home in Jackson this evening, officials said.

As first reported on our news alerts, the fire broke out shortly after 9 PM.

One floor was reportedly fully involved, and mutual aid was requested from nearby townships. The fire was mostly contained by approximately 10:00 PM.

There were no reports of injuries other than the dogs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
