VIDEO: Dr. Shanik invites community to Tonight’s Ahavas Tzedakah Annual Dinner

Founded by Dr. and Mrs. Shanik more than 30 years ago, Ahavas Tzedakah is a household word in Lakewood. As Lakewood’s original aniyei ircha fund, Ahavas Tzedakah helps families in need by providing basics such as groceries and clothing throughout the year with a special emphasis on Shabbos and Yom Tov. The fund’s annual budget exceeds $1.7 million.

This year’s Dinner will iy”H take place tonight at Ateres Chana Hall (Bais Faiga). Because of the tremendous increase in the number of needy families, this year’s campaign theme is to just say YES! “The idea is to say YES to every needy family and YES to every need,” explains Mrs. Nechama Goldberg, Ahavas Tzedakah’s Director. “Our mission is to make sure every family’s needs are met – can we say YES to some families but NO to others?!”

Dr. Shanik has urged the entire community to participate. “The need has grown tremendously, and the Annual Dinner is an absolute lifeline for Ahavas Tzedakah.” He adds that although the donations are the most important part, it is also a tremendous source of chizuk when people take the time to attend the dinner and show their support.

The Guest Speaker at the event will be Rav Yisroel Brog shlit”a of Cleveland. The streamlined and enjoyable program will include an open buffet and zemiros by Mezamrim together with a child soloist.

Now all the rest of us have to do is…say YES!
