cop returning stolen bike to kid tls picVIDEO: One child went to sleep happy this evening, after his stolen bike was found and returned to him, by a police officer. At about 6:00 PM this evening, a resident from the Red Oaks area noticed 3 teens walking away from the development with a bike, and phoned the police as well as LCSW.

The resident then continued following the suspects from a distance for several blocks, but then lost sight of them in the Raintree area.

Police arrived to take a report from the victim, and left.

About 30 minutes later, the officer – Patrolman Rob Shimanovitch – returned to the development with the bike in his trunk, after locating it in Raintree. TLS-CCP/TLS-14.

  1. There are good cops, frustrated cops who are over worked and then lazy cops who dont want to help local citizens oritect their property,

thank you officer for returning the bike,

maybe next time he will catch the thugs, or did he?

  2. way to go! a special thanks should start with the person who saw all of this happen, and who had the smarts to call the LPD. thanks LPD job well done.

  3. #9- if he did give them tickets, there would be a hundred posts on here asking “why are the police bothering OUR community” – “shouldnt they be searching for bank robbers or more serious crime?” – etc…

-what officer needs that type of online harassment when there are 3 private cars with dash-cams recording your every move at any given moment.
(and then before you know it- the officer is stuck attending “sensitivity training” on his days off)

  4. Thank you Mr. Conservative. You’re right on all counts. And if the kids don’t have a helmet they should not be given their bikes back until the parents buy them one. And while our cops are out there chasing down stolen bikes that were left unattended, unlocked and so forth, they cops are being taken away from other crime which needs attending to.
Daven daily for our police, they need it. I think this is a community that doesn’t know what it wants. We want one thing until something else happens, then we want something else, until another thing happens. I don’t know how the police keep thier cool when the demands change with every occurance and whim.
Good luck Lkwd Police…I don’t want your job!!!

  5. why are you all making the victims the criminals.

its total lawlesness if the police will not get the word out that stealing bike is a crime.

does you kid need to lock his bike in front of his house to go in for a few minutes to get a drink?

and if the bikes are locked up in the yard ?

what right does anyone have to steal!!!!!!!!!!!!

you sound like an officer i know who complained after a kid was caught stealing that ” he was always tripping over YOUR stuff”. He put the victims on the defense.

How many times the police were called and their response was “What do you want us to do- arrest a Juvinile”. The answer is YES,. Are they going to wait until he turns 18 to arrest him for the first time? and that might be for murder. They could have been down the kids back when he was young and maybe saved a few of them from growing up to be thugs.
