  1. I hope the school bus driver got the license plate number and the driver of that vehicle be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! Driving in the Lakewood area has become very dangerous for some time now. Police ,Lakewood’s finest or state troopers need to write that a court appearance is mandated! And the judges hand out stiff $ fines along with loss of driving privileges that will cause “some” difficulties in the guilty party’s daily life.

    • The bus company was not able to get the plates because the dash cam was wet from rain. If anyone is able to do so please let us know

  2. John,
The bus doors were open seconds before the child stepped off the bus.Im sure the red blinking school bus lights were on.
And for those who will find other excuses, let me say this,if it was your child would you accept any excuses?

  3. Running a bus light should be an automatic 90 day suspension of license and huge fine. Does a child have to be killed first before something is done????

    • So I’m not the only one that noticed that , while passing a school bus that is stopped to either pick up or drop off has no defense , being in the wrong lane certainly makes zero sense ,had it been where it should have the child would not have stepped into the roadway

  4. Why did the bus driver pull into the center lane then stop to allow a young boy off in the middle of the road? He should’ve stopped in the right lane and let the boy off safely at the side of the road. To be fair the car wasn’t paying attention to a bus that pulled into the middle turning lane. I personally wouldn’t dream that a bus in the middle lane is letting off a child. Of course drivers should pay careful attention to the red light flashing on a bus but the bus driver did not drop off the child safely.

The driver of the minivan 100% passes the doors of the bus while they are still closed. (That being said, he nevertheless should have slowed down)

The Bus driver clearly let the child stand at the front of the bus by the steps (possibly even the bottom step, which is really dangerous), while the bus was in motion. All you need is one sudden stop, and serious injuries ch’v.

    • Dude. Are you on something? Or perhaps we watched two different videos? The boy was off the bus when the car passed the bus on the right.

  6. someone should check it might be a ambulance chaser rushing to a accident scene to secure the business
wouldn’t put it past them .
    save us from the chasers

  7. FYI – There are some real sick puppy’s in this town that just don’t give a hoot!! And then when something happens they run and make this Asifa etc..!!

    Shame on that driver!!!!!!

  8. for the record the ligths turn red when the door opens up by that time the driver was past the lights and wont see it.
its time the busses get doors on each side like they have in many other places and avoid these issues!

  9. Lately I’ve seen a lot of buses driving around with the flashing lights on all the time. I’m sure there is a reason why they do it, but if that was the case with the bus here, how is a car on the right, who can’t see the stop sign, supposed to know that a bus is stopping to let off a child? Yes, cars need to stop for buses, but bus drivers need to let children off responsibly as well.

  10. I thought of an idea that can help all of us.
Let us try to open, manage and operate a Gemach on a daily basis.
This is a special type of Gemach.
The owner of this Gemach will try his best to drive very carefully near a school bus. This is the entire function of this Gemach. Every single time that you drive very carefully near a school bus, you are doing many good deeds simultaneously to many families and Hashem knows very well what you are doing and He will give you a great reward like any other Gemach and maybe even more.

  11. The correct approach to this is to attempt to avoid potential mistakes.

Transportation and bus companies need to arrange stops so that:
1- ALL bus stops are CLOSE UP BY THE CURB so that no cars can pass between the child disembarking and the curb.
2- We need to DISALLOW CROSSING IN FRONT OF A BUS TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET. Stops on both sides (however inconvenient) need to be made so that no child needs to cross in front of the bus to the opposite side across a street.
People get distracted. Is that an Excuse? NO! BUT we need to be smart, not just be busy figuring out who is to blame. Anyone can make a mistake, and with such volume KH we need to be smarter and do our hishtadlus to avoid people’s potential mistakes.
I have spoken with the bus administrators already but every one of you all need to do the same so that real change can happen. You all need to pressure them.

  12. I see bus drivers do unsafe drop offs like Locust St. they stop at the jug handle and let them off while cars are exiting at 45-50MPH. They have to use their heads.

  13. Bother drivers are 100% at fault.
The driver passed a school bus after it stopped. The law is that you must stop if the flashing lights are on, regardless of whether the door is open.
The bus driver did two things wrong. A) He stopped in the middle lane. He was supposed to stop on the right lane near the curb. It’s common sense. B) He opened the door too soon after he stopped. They are supposed to pause and give the drivers a fair chance to see the lights. They are also supposed to double check and make sure that there are no cars.
