  1. How commendable to give up your smart phone and what a chizuk! With utmost respect, a general question, would it not be perhaps a bit more productive to sell it on ebay and use the proceeds for tzedaka lelu nismas The Skulene Rebbe or perhaps another d’var mitzvah (Ski for MOE)? Perhaps such a program could be administered under the auspices of the Hanhala? It would be great to see these stories posted with details of donations. @Mesivta of Eatontown much continued success!!

    • @ Anonymous 5. you obviously don’t understand the power of seizing the moment of inspiration, to change the course of your life…
the Yetzer Hora has many “logical” things up his sleeve to convince us how not to seize the moment and hence stay trapped in his grip…

    you MAMESH are saving LIVES

please all roshei mossad (yes you follow lakewood scoop)
please take the boys to Skulenner rebbe zatzal and to the Ribbnitzer rebbe zatzal
    BEFORE bain hazmanim
    its worth it!!

  3. As someone who owns and runs a busy operation, I can tell you that giving up my smartphone several years ago was one of the smartest decisions I ever made. I am not distracted by a constant barrage of distractions. I can email just fine from my computer thank you. The mentality that there will be something so urgent, that I must be constantly available is anti-progress, not the opposite

  4. I wouldn’t do it. It would be lying to myself . I always say : Do not put blame to users of smartphones , blame the ppl who put frum context online, Like Torahonline, Lakewoodscoop , Yeshivaword etc.

To teach how use it(restrict hours of use, filter )-YES, but just denying -noscence ( speaking about myself ) .It like do not use regular phone because you could talk loshen hora much easier and on the longer distance .
P.S. To use computer for internet it same as use smartphones , so do not think are at much higher level , just using computer …

    • that would be your yetzer hara talking. i can’t talk either though cuz i have a smartphone too, but i took off all my apps and got off all my groups, and removed the browser. have minimum on it now. text, email (need for work) weather, waze.
really don’t spend much time with my phone anymore. used to be hours a day, now its only minutes B”H!
i though i would have FOMO getting off the groups but after a few days of checking my phone only to find nothing to read, i got used to it and don’t miss it at ALL!
      try it for week.
      anyone could do a week.

  5. moments of inspiration have a short expiration date. You need to take the inspiration and do something with it. Smashing a cellphone is cool but without positive real actions chances are you end up buying a new one a week later.
