[VIDEO BELOW] This time, it’s the Lakewood High School students.
Each year, for over 20 years now, students from the Lakewood High School varsity baseball team participate in a baseball tournament in Puerto Rico.
But this year, the Lakewood School District won’t be providing them with a ride home from the airport, a move Attorney Michael Inzelbuch says is very troubling.
The reason for the sudden change, was reportedly because JFK Airport is out of state – just like last year.
“Last year, for example they flew from Newark Airport and returned to JFK, in New York – no problem,” says Inzelbuch. “This is at NO cost to the Taxpayer other than a school bus that takes them to the airport and returns them home. All transportation in Puerto Rico including to the tournament, museums, restaurants is paid for by the kids, their families, and their chaperones.”
The children and their parents/guardians all pay from their own pockets – approximately $550 for airfare, food and travel.
Lakewood Coach Drumright and Assistant Coach “LJ” (both Lakewood school staff) and Officer Alex Guzman (Lakewood Police Department) accompany them, again, at no cost to the district.
“C’mon, there must be money for this!” says Inzelbuch.
“These kids never get to leave Lakewood. Here they have a chance to broaden their horizons (and) help them to obtain college scholarships. I am certain Superintendent Winters and Monitor Azzara won’t let this happen. Call them.”
Doesn’t the Boe own there own busses and pay their drivers full time?
Why don’t we take all the funds that are used to pay for the illegal immigrants that come from OTHER towns and use that for ALL busing.
What’s a curve ball ?
I realize this topic has nothing to do with the baseball team getting busing, but it seams whenever you voice an intelligent opinion Mr. Inzelbuch things get done.
So tell me why LBOE is using their buses to transport aides too an from home because they have no car?
In particular I live in Dutchtown apts and my neighbor is picked up by bus 1514 and transported back and forth to work as an sub aide because she has no form of transportation. Can we all use the LBOE buses to get transported to and from work.
I don’t know what is going on but eventually someone somewhere needs to see how much money is being wasted in the transportation department.
why was a bus snow removal machine bought and who approved it??35,000 it cost and how much snow do we get in Lakewood to warrant such an expensive toy???
use this money to transport non public who still don’t have runs covered.
Does the state monitor and all his assistant state monitors have any clue about where all the money is being spent?
