VIDEO: An Uplifting Chai Lifeline Menorah-Lighting Ceremony at CHOP

An uplifting Menorah-Lighting Ceremony brought the spirit of Chanukah to patients, doctors, nurses and administrators at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on Monday, the second night of Chanukah.

Rabbi Sruli Fried, MSW, Director of Chai Lifeline NJ/PA, addressed the assembled crowd, drawing a parallel between the Chanukah miracles and the miracles that happen every day at the hospital.

“When I look at the doctors, nurses and administrators of CHOP, I see how the light of their work overcomes fear and darkness time and again,” he said.

Following his inspiring words, Rabbi Fried ceremoniously lit the oversized menorah, which was designed and created by artistic genius Moshe Schapira and The Railing Mench in honor of the brave children at CHOP. A beautiful rendition of maoz tzur, accompanied by talented violinist Pesach Nestlebaum, echoed throughout the large Atrium.

“Thank you to the Facilities, Child Life and Spiritual Care departments at C.H.O.P for making this meaningful event happen!” Chai Lfieline said.
