VIDEO: With the dust from the Michael Brown incident beginning to settle, several dozen people from Lakewood’s black community gathered last night for a ‘Unity Rally’ in an effort to improve the relationship between the community and law enforcement.
At the peaceful rally organized by the NAACP, the group heard from Lakewood’s Police Chief and others with one goal in mind – to strengthen the line of communication between police and members from ethnic backgrounds in hopes of avoiding another Michael Brown incident.
The event took place at the Municipal auditorium.

Lakewood has a very good citezen standing I think the black here are very polite caring and stay out of mischief
The rest of the country should take a lesson from these upstanding citizens. Instead of protesting and causing disturbances and more issues, here we have people who create and promote a positive framework to facilitate good feelings and trust between the police and the black community. Kudos to the organizers and all the attendees.
You know how you avoid another mike brown? when the cops say put your hands up you put your hands up and not try grabbing the officers gun. pretty simple would you say?
@StageQ….soooooo I assume you were actually at the scene and observed Mike Brown trying to grab the officer’s gun??????
