VIDEO: A Tale of Two Bar Mitzvahs

Reb Shea Brisk, currently of Lakewood, celebrated his Bar Mitzvah in 1943, shortly before he was deported to Auschwitz and lost nearly his whole family to the Nazis YM”S.

He describes his Bar Mitzvah as “not a major party,” with everyone getting one whole roll to enjoy.

Sunday night, 80 years after the atrocities, he had the opportunity to dance at the Bar Mitzvah of his great-grandson, Avrami Schwed, son of Dovi Schwed.

The song they danced to was composed by the Bar Mitzvah boy’s great-grandfather, Reb Ben Zion Shenker Z”L.
