[COPY OF STUB] [READER SUBMITTED] On 07/27 I filled up on gas at the BP station on Rt. 9 and the lake. My car was driving fine for the next week. I did not drive it from Aug 1st to Aug 5.
On Aug. 5, I saw the Scoop’s article about the contamination and was happy that I hadn’t experienced any problems.
That evening I got into the car; it wouldn’t start. Attempts at boosting it didn’t help; the battery was fully charged. I had it towed to Ventus Auto Center where I was informed that the fuel pump and filter needed to be replaced – likely due to contaminated fuel – for $632.55.
I saw on the Scoop contact info for BP; I called them and received a claim number. I faxed them the credit card statements showing the gas purchase and a receipt from my mechanic stating the repairs done and that it was paid in full. I also sent them a signed statement describing the events as they occurred. BP told me that they would take 30-40 days to investigate.
They ended up reimbursing me in full, including the $41.01 for the price of the gas, totaling $673.56
Thank you Lakewood Scoop!
I wouldn’t have settled for that…
I’m coming to your Kiddush!!…….Are you serving some Herring??
Way to go scoop! Good that BP did right thing also.
File a class action suit against them
When I called BP they took down my info & said that I should just wait for them to get back to me, I’m still waiting……………
