It seems the burglars are getting more desperate and brazen – and more residents may be locking their vehicle doors. Police say they are investigating several vehicle burglaries of which at least two involved a broken front door window.
The burglar(s) then proceeded GPS devices and other contents from the vehicles.
CIU no longer responds to burglaries on vehicles, as earlier reported on TLS/CCP.

just because you leave your doors locked, doesnt mean you can leave your expensive toys in plain view.
1) If they check your doors and they are locked – and see toys = they will break a window.
2) If they check your doors and they are locked – and they see NOTHING WORTHWHILE, they move on.
Remember thieves will stop at nothing to get your stuff. Locked doors, windows, camera’s, etc – doesn’t matter. IF THEY WANT IT, NOTHING WILL STOP THEM. So do yourself a favor, and don’t entice them by leaving things they want in plain view.

100,000 people, 7 – 10 on patrol, they can’t be every place at the same time. MVAs, traffic control, disputes, thefts, checking out “suspicious” people, noise complaints, alarm calls, motor vehicle stops, you should check and see how busy Lakewood cops are.

IF YOU WANT YOUR TOWN BACK, START BY UNLOADING THE BURDEN UPON THE POLICE BY KICKING OUT YOUR “TENANTS”.

Well said, this is the exact reason we need to expand our Police department.
On a good night there is 7 out on patrol, I’m not sure if they ever have 10 officers on the road overnight!
Im waiting for the union comments that we need to hire more patrol officers because of this. There were cuts what do you expect BLAH BLAH…
