USPS To Stop Saturday Delivery To Cut Costs

The Postal Service is planning to stop Saturday delivery, in order to trim costs. The cash-strapped mail agency plans to cut the delivery day to save about $2 billion.

The change is expected to take effect in August.

USPS would still deliver to P.O. boxes on Saturday.

That’s a bunch of garbage..

USPS just raised their rates last week:
http://about.usps.com/news/national-releases/2012/pr12_114.htm

I thought that was to cut costs? How much “cost” are they going to keep cutting? This “cost cutting” will never end.

If they had any competition at all (for First Class Packages / envelopes) they wouldn’t get away with this and survive. It’s unfortunate that they can do whatever they want due to their monopoly.

I already use Fedex/UPS exclusively for anything that is not “first class mail”.

Snail mail should be only one day a week for those that still rely on it like one cash lane for non ezpass users 99% is junk mail anyway it should be placed in the spam box ie big yellow bin

Great idea. Most of my mail is junk mail anyway. Almost everything is electronic nowadays. THey should revamp the whold system if it wants to stay up to date. The post offices are from the last century. Can’t go into the details here, but they are really behind the times. Keep up with the times and maybe you’ll make some money!

rarely ever mail anything ,so no big deal. USPS is going bankrupt they need to modernize and offer newer services need some young blood to think outside the “BOX”

I hope they go bankrupt. This is just proof the Government has no clue how to run a business…..
If UPS or Fedex bought it out, they would be making a profit in less than a year.

great news

To #13, park legally and then maybe you wont get nasty notes on your windshield.
